    Hi,

Any help would be appreciated. Worked until end of March at which time I was made redundant after 16 years.

Have paid almost 6k in PAYE over those months - my question is if I do not work again this calendar year, will I get a rebate of this full amount or only some of it.

Thanks in advance if you can help.

    Paul

It depends on how much taxable income you had

If you are on single person's allowances I'd say you would get about 2500 back.

If you will definitely not be working again this year you should be able to make a claim now with Form P50. Might want to give them a call to double-check.

Even if someone might be working again they can still make a claim using the Form P50.

If the claim was made at the end of July (for example) a tax calculation will be done based on the income received to date and credits for 7 months. Every 8 weeks you can then make a further claim and refunded additional taxes each time if you remain unemployed.

The amount of any possible rebate will be affected if you are in receipt of Jobseekers Benefit (or any other taxable Social Welfare).
