Yeah most likely voltage locked, you could get into the modded bios's if there are any about to increase it that way but it can be a bit of hassle for the extra MHz,was pretty disappointed when my old G1 970 was voltage locked. Huge cooler, super low temps but couldnt push the core past 1488Mhz as it would be unstable, reckon all it needed was a small bump in v to take it further. So over clocked the card peaked at about 69C,loads of headroom left but could do sweet FA with it.

EDIT: Were you looking at getting a 21:9 monitor? Pauls Hardware on youtube has a new vid up testing the 1060 on the ultrawide monitors. Using the same card as you bought too.

    Link: https://youtu.be/XHvNwlijQrs

I finally had a chance to check that video. I cam only say woooow! 1060 can handle 2560x1080 like a boss and can even do really well the 1440p wide very solid. I did not expect at all.

I still had no chance to actually play with my new card. :( hopefully tonight.

Going from fx 8320, 970 board and 16gb ddr3 to 6600k, AsRock Z170 and 16gb ddr4 (roughly €380ish) worth it? Or wait for Zen and Kaby Lake?

Personally wouldn't bother with the k CPU.

Is the CPU holding you back much? I'd probably wait

Hmmm... got weird issue since my gpu fried on me. If my pc is not on for a day or so, I turn it on and before windows load up it says something about changed cpu or ram. Press 1 to go to setup or 2 to have default settings. It still loads up, but my overclock goes to stock. Any ideas?

Just a flat little battery in motherboard. Get a new one from any supermarket, even pound shop like Dealz

Cheers lads. Misses bought some of those batteries for scales few days a go. So came in handy for me too. All switched. :)

Oh and i downloaded gigabyte oc software today. Looks like gigabyte 1060 has amazing cooler, 8 pins and it's fecking locked voltage. So heads up who ever buying one.
Why would you give all that and lock voltage... Stupid.

Yeah sucks that they have a power limit, all you can do is crank the power limit slider and see what you can push it to.

My old 970 topped out at 1.21v,which was crazy considering the temps i was getting on the max stable i clocks i could get at that voltage, could easily have went higher.

What way it works? I a bit confused with that power limit. What does that slider do and how to use it?

Bit of a random one, but does anyone know what cable this would require in the middle? It's definitely micro USB, I think it's micro B, same as some of the Samsung Galaxy chargers, but I'm not too sure. I've lost the original cable for it :P

Yeah that's a micro USB. Same one used in pretty much every phone and tablet (bar apple of course).

It allows the card to draw as much power as it can. You would still be within limits but those limits would be slightly higher allowing you to push the card. The limits are set by the manufacturer.

ah, nice one. Was thinking it was one of those but wasn't too sure. Thanks!

Do you just max the slider up? Then see how much oc can get? It's not voltage anyway?

Okat guys, remember how I said on start up my pc throws this New cpu or memory detected so F1 for setup of F2 default settings? I changed Cmos battery and it is still doing same...

Yeah pretty much,it will relax things like temp targets etc while letting you achieve the max tdp the card can. If you have good cooling this will help you get higher overclocks. If your not trying to get high overclocks id probably just leave it and see how far you get. Can always increase it later when you have found the limit at stock.

Google the message and the motherboard make/type.

Okay, I was trying to sort out punkbuster for bf4 and went to ccleaner and it showed I got only 4gb ram! I poped ram out and inserted it again. It shows everywhere 8gb again.

I wonder if that was an issue. Maybe my old PC finally showing it age. I dont want to overhaul my 2500k, damn thing derved me like a boss and still is powerhouse.

Can you backup everything and try a fresh reinstall of windows and drivers and the likes. Might be a driver conflict. Wont do the pc any harm, will just take some time.
Gives you a chance to spring clean the pc too while your at it.

Yeah, that was a pretty cool article, saw it yesterday.

tl;dr - All coolers do the job, Intel ones tend to suck about as much as AMD's. The new stock Wraith cooler performs about the same as a Hyper 212, which performs much better than the "regular" stock stuff.

Using something like HWMonitor check the voltage of the 3.3V, maybe the replacement battery you used is not firing on all cylinders??
Did you use the same battery model? usually a CR2032.

So are there many sticking it out with windows 7 with the free upgrade deadline looming for windows 10? Still not sure I want to move main desktop onto it just yet, have it on the laptop already. Going to upgrade, and then roll back so that if I want to upgrade to to win10 later I still have the option
