05 Fiesta central locking problem

Have an 05 Fiesta for the last 7 or so years. In the last 18 months the central locking has been causing problems. It started with the door light on the dash coming on while driving but was only happening occasionally so didn't really cause any hassle. Then I noticed it happening whenever it was raining - when it came to park up the locks would lock and unlock whenever I hit the fob. Again it didn't last too long. The last couple of weeks though have been a nightmare and it's just refusing to lock. Any advice?

I know the focus had exact same problem.

Control unit was under dash at driver right foot and also dirt would get into locks and lock mechanism need to be cleaned also wd 40 would work if sprayed in at door units.

Thanks. I tried wd40 earlier and no luck. Would you suggest disconnecting the control unit?

Give it a try also a few taps on side. Most likely dirt in the drivers door mechanism

Also check your boot door lock. I've come across several faulty boot door actuators

Thanks. Funny you say that because the boot has to be opened with the key. The fob stopped working for it shortly before the central locking started playing up.

Check wiring harness where it crosses from the body to the boot lid, given that the boot stopped working first. The wires sometimes break and short in the black tube near the hinge. May have blown the fuse for the central locking
