I wouldn't say you really need to use Rasberries until you start seeing high CP yellow/orange/red circled Pokemon, IMO it's better to improve your catching (waiting for the circle to get as small as possible for when the ball lands, and getting it to land without wasting heaps on misses) than relying on rasberries early in the game.

Does anyone if cycling counts when hatching eggs? And do I just keep the app open in the background for that to work because obviously I'm not going to hold it in my hand.

No, I tried it earlier and it only registered 300m for 4km cycled slowly. I suppose it counted approaching/leaving junctions at walking speed. The app was open with screen-off disabled.

Where abouts in Longford? Towards McDonald's is a bleeding ghost town.

Out near Dunnes/Teffia Park sort of area.

There was a Rattata on my kitchen table this morning, never was I so happy to see a rodent in the kitchen.

I think your posts were badly phrased because to me, that's two different things. The first gen games, and maybe branching into second and third, were great. Then they starting getting bad. I hate the modern take on games and cartoons. They've done the same to Mickey Mouse. Everything is fluffy and friendship. The pokemon are looking like the devs were just clutching at straws and turning anything into a pokemon just to add numbers.
But I still play the first few games on repeat. I still made my own Pikachu costume for Halloween a few years back. I still have an Umbreon hat I got at Comic Con last year. I have a paper art Pikachu sitting on my bookshelf. I have a Meowth and a Charmander teddy sitting on my bed.
But if we go by the logic in your first post, I'm not a true fan because I prefer first gen games. I get your point about bandwagoners, but I don't think the game generations are going to play much part it whittling them out. Time and eventual boredom will have a greater effect. Most won't even notice the difference in generations. Until then, with the emergence of GoT, superhero movies and now Pokemon, I've gone from one of the least popular kids in the playground, to the most (figuratively speaking) :D

I can see now how badly I worded that! Oops! Maybe writing stuff so early on a Sunday should be discouraged!
It's great that Pokemon lovers from all around can finally tell people that we like it. Until it fizzles out and we'll have to fade back into obsecurity as a social pariah once more! I'll keep my eevee teddy hidden in my room :pac:

Ah no, embrace your inner nerd! There's no point in hiding who you are because people are gonna judge anyway. They may as well be judging me as I am.

I noticed that alright but got a shock at those numbers. What kind of trainer levels are we talking?

mid teens to twenties depending on how lucky you are. I have 5 over 1000 at level 21.

This gym business is impossible. I can barely land a slap before getting my death cert.
Silly kids wasted all my pokeballs earlier on a pollywig

It would only seems to ping you every 5 seconds and I think it measures as the crow flies if you like. Don't think they worked that bit out yet.

I've no problems with adults playing games. The issue for me is that its objectively not a very good game that while superficially taps into nostalgia is actually tapping ito people's OCD/collecting tendencies, and I'm guessing exploits this through in-app purchases. I don't really see how using "stardust" or whatever to level up is any different to what games like candy crush do. I also don't think people can distinguish between when they're having fun, and when its just a case of the reward part of their brain being activated, the very thing games like this are designed to do.

I 100% agree however it's making people exercise. Aside from having to move, it is basically one of them Facebook games.

Candy crush had me addicted as it did so many people my age. So has many other games.

I'm gonna use pokemon go if I'm in the city centre or out for a jog. It actually made my jog around bushy park yesterday very fun. As opposed to blasting my earphones in a daydream zombie mode.

I can definetely see people ginger through a mechanical OCD mode with the game but will go crazy to deny it.

Like any other addictive game, it fizzles out. Is candy crush even a thing anymore?

Seems to be working a lot better on Android than iOS. Went to the park with my son earlier and he was having no problems while I couldn't even log in. Although he was a bit annoyed that he reset his account to do the Pikachu trick only to catch another one this morning.

Guys, since official launch I'm just get my charachter standing on a blue screen. Like water. He won't move . Any ideas?

Downloaded this out of curiosity yesterday evening. Haven't moved from the gaff since and have caught 39 Pokemon only logging into it every now and then. I tend to go on a couple of long walks during the week so it will be interesting to try this out on them. It appears to suck the life out of the battery quicker than a vampire in a blood bank though!

How do people catch pokemons inside?
Seems like a buggiven the nature of the game

Has anyone tried using an existing Pokemon Trainer Club to sign up to this yet? I've tried but I keep getting "Unable to authenticate" errors. :(

Went for a 5k walk this morn. Caught a few new pokes but nothing amazing. Found a whole tonne of stops around the area and two gyms.
Got level 5 and four eggs from the walk. a 5k, 10k and 2x2k.
Quite enjoyed myself while out and about tbh. Serious drain on the battery alright. About 1.5 hours all in all and 50% drained. Gonna recharge and head out again this evening.
There was a damn Squirtle on my nearby list that I want :P

Game is going a bit mad on me at the moment, can load in after several fails but not use Stops, challenge Gyms or transfer pokemon. Quite annoying. :(

How many caught a Pokemon only for it to freeze after caught and not register as yours, happened to me with a jynx and wheedle on my travels.

I'm curious about those who have mentioned running or jogging with the game. I'm supposed to be running 3-4 times a week but being so lazy about it...the app is actually making me exercise less instead of more. How do you manage to run and use it? I never run with my phone out, it would distract me so much and I'd never cover a decent distance if I kept stopping.

On the positive side found a fiver.:D

This game makes no difference to exercise for and I'm guessing anyone with a dog, it just means trying to hold a lead a bag of **** and catch a Pokemon, I should be getting extra xp.

If anybody wants an eevee in finglas clever buys is the place to be. Ironic as a German Shepard guards the shop.
