    Where's nearby?

How do you collect coins from a gym, do you have to go back to the gym or does it do it automatically.

    Galway, on the "nearby" tab

Managed to nab a few Eevee in Longford earlier, as well as a Tangela.

Just flash a more modern ROM. XDA should be able to sort you out.

You can't join a team or use gyms until you're level 5.

Well took my first walk around. Took Pikachu for my starter. Captured a few Rattata & Pidgeys. Then a Weedle, Spearow and Krabby.
Yup, feels like playing Red / Blue again and being a complete n00b with n00by pokes.
No gyms in my immediate area but there is a stop that I took a trip to. Didn't hang about it though as it's a kids playground and I might look a bit odd standing around there with no child myself. :P
I'll go for a proper walk tomorrow and see whats about. It's been very stable for me at the moment. No crashes and plenty of captures without bugs.

Call down to your local animal shelter and ask to walk a dog

Pro tip: be careful when you use the AR for capturing a pokemon... was using it today by myself happy away, and a few teenage girls walked past me and into the camera view. Didnt think much of it myself, happy I got the pokemon and put my phone in my pocket and smiled and walked on. Then noticed a couple giving me the stink eye and whispering to themselves.

Im guessing they thought I was doing something a bit more dodgy :(

Aside from avoiding the unnecessary perv looks, turning the AR off will make your wild pokemon stay at the center of your screen, making it easier for you to execute your FB Messenger Basketball throwing skills

There's something with my phone where the app can't detect the orientation, so I can't use AR but I don't really mind cause at least I'm saving some battery

Well it's an empty motorway. Drogheda has about 30 pokestops.

What is a poke stop and where are they?

When you're catching a pokemon look at the upper right hand corner of the screen there is an AR Switch. This will be saved as your default

Drove slowly back home from my mates through town earlier. Twelve pokestops in one minute:D
Think I'll go for a wee cycle and see if I can hatch some as soon as my battery recharges.
Managed to revive one Pokemon and heal another. I've no idea how to tell if the ones I catch are good or rare or what but I'm sick of Zubats at this stage!

There were six or seven gyms within a kilometre earlier, most with low CP pomemons guarding them ( 100-200). Might wander around and set my Voltron on them.

AR doesn't work on my phone either.

Where abouts in Longford? Towards McDonald's is a bleeding ghost town.

As we were doing the same thing, a Garda car that was driving by slowed down and asked us were we okay (i.e "what are you doing?"). Obviously, makes you look a bit dodgy.
When we told them we were playing "Pokémon Go" they both laughed and drove off.

It would be fun if the rare Pokemon where situated in places like Croke Patrick and the like, rather then just randomly appearing.

Jeez Dublin city center is a pokestop heaven. Was on the bus going into town and couldn't grab pokestops quick enough. If your ever low on balls and stuff, pay 2.80 for a ticket into town rather than using in app purchases :D few lures around the place as well :D

Seeing as I drive around for work a bit, started stopping in small little towns :) uncontested gyms in a few places. More popular town gyms get taken over daily.

Was out in the Dublin suburbs today... Gyms really aren't as difficult as the city centre :P

Before all the server issues that besieged the afternoon/evening, I brought my three kids (4, 4 & 6) out to Carlow and while we started beside their favourite playground, we ended up on the opposite side of town and taking a gym. Very proud day for a pokemon red player and onwards.
Shure this is just great craic tbh

On my nightly walks (just checked - 82km logged in 10 days of play) meeting quite a few players, young and old alike.

So far everyone's been super friendly - such a difference to the other mmo games - I guess people are nicer face to face than over the Internet.

During the server mayhem this afternoon I saw a gyrados shadow but wasn't able to catch it :(

How is everyone's pokedex doing? I'm up to 72 now :)

So, cycling, even slowly is a waste of time for hatching, decent for catching and great for pokestops.
I need to bring a spare battery in future; I get just over an hour of full-on play.

    What's a lure?
How do I train a Pokemon?
    What's the point of medals?
Is there anything to do to make sure a Pokemon stays trapped or is it just luck and perseverance?
Is there any reason not to evolve?
    Or transfer duplicates?
    Where do I get stardust?
