About this RED VW Beetle in 1977 Donegal.

Were they commonly seen in red in Ireland at all back then?

I remember pale blue, white, yellow, orange. All a bit wishy washy apart from the orange one.

Red seems rare enough. Could be bad memory though.

this is something I am actively trying to find out .. not getting much luck so far though , i know its an untrue story anyway but it would be good to have the proof

I wouldn't let them corrupt pack of ******** look for my dog, maybe they were sent in to spoil or distort. Acting under order.

They have a history of fcuking things up, and if anything is a red herring it's these sent in to continue the cover-up. I've no faith in this latest development, or latest distraction.

I agree , great timing with this march going on tomorrow

on another note i have some good news which for now i can't share when i know certain people are reading this forum looking ofr info for their rags , as soon as my cousin decides to release this news I will let you know.

Needless to say it discredits the whole "cold case" story from the star earlier in the week .

I don't know why journalists have an agenda on this, the mind boggles, truth is truth is truth, why distort it?

she said bad things about him in her documentary so hes trying to get back at her by discrediting "her" story (which is actually my cousins story) - like i said playground stuff

Meanwhile a 6 year old lies dumped buried like an animal somewhere whilst these type of people as well as political trolls argue over it online & in print it would make you sick

Well that's a load of b0llox, let them take their petty arguments elsewhere, this isn't about either of them, it's about your 6 year old cousin and people's ego's getting in the way, sickening.

Personally I think any search should be carried out by specialist archeologists it's a 6 yr olds remains they're looking for it needs to be carried out delicately, to me a digger churning up bogland is an insane way for a search to be carried out

You're right but remember these guys have something to hide. Bringing in archaeologists would possibly find her body and they can't have that.

You have some proof that there were no suitably qualified persons in charge of the search/dig?
I read something similar about the previous search also and that was completely untrue. There were suitably qualified persons directing operations.

I have no reason to believe this is any different.
If you have then please post the information, thank you.

Reminds me of something I heard once. The truth is a set of lies agreed upon.

Heres 3 diggers being used to search for 'the disappeared' in NI. Seems to be the way of doing things http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-24812052

And have you contacted the gardai for a reply to his claims. and if so what is their answer?

The witness has been reported as claiming, amongst other things, that the gardai botched up the investigation.

For balance I'd be interested in knowing the Garda response to these allegations, even to know if they would respond or not.

Do they dismiss him out of hand or agree that they covered up his information about the car all those years ago?

Search done and dusted and no evidence found, that was quick.....

Apparently the diggers only scrape the surface of the search site to clear it.
Then they use x-ray equipment to detect bones or bone fragments.
All this is overlooked by a forensic anthropologist.

Nothing found would suggest there was nothing there or if there was it was moved but the x-rays should detect ground disturbance.

Hi, just signed up as I have been following this thread and also been interested in this case for many years....as far as I know and i was a beetle enthusiast in the 70s, they made them in a colour called poppy red but only in convertible type..so if it was a factory paint job it would have been very distinctive, could have been resprayed though as a lot of that went on back then...

Does anyone have a link to the Cracking Crime programme made by RTE about Mary Boyle. I've been looking for it but can't find it on the web. I think it was broadcast around 2008. I know it's probably RTE bull but I think it would be worth looking at in light of recent developments.

There are lots of 70s VW colour charts on the web, hard to find anything Irish specific though.

I know they weren't seen in a very wide range of colours here, but on the other hand, red wouldn't be an unheard of colour for a car either....even in '70s Ireland. .

Purple was more popular as a car colour as I recall.

There was Kasan red, Royal red, Iberian red and in the 60s, Ruby red. There's nothing unusual or remarkable about a red beetle at all.

Lots of folks respraying back then and living next to a garage that worked mostly at beetles ive seen quite a few being resprayed red over that decade......

    Fair enough.

My recall wouldn't be that good on them!
70s Ireland was a mix of black and white and beige and purple to me.

And this was the lake where the poachers were?

also if you go into street view up the grandparents house lane you can see her uncle working in the undergrowth, ob#ver a wall, his face is off course blurred as google does

this is the documentary im pretty sure that the producers of which refused Gemma O D to use , so would be pretty hard to find id wager, if i recall this is the one that had a reconstruction of Marys last moments and was made in conjunction with the garda, no mentions of Red VW beetles in it though
