I've been looking for a used Caddy Maxi Kombi but they're either unavailable or too expensive.

I'm now considering getting a Caddy Maxi and upgrading it to Kombi spec.

I need a van for work use but also want an occasional camper van too so I'm interested in this http://www.amdro.co.uk/boot-jump-camper-car/with-driveaway-awning-and-inner-tent-p-54.html

Has anyone upgraded a van before i.e. installed side windows, rear seats and insulation et al?

Any details of experience or advice would be appreciated.

If you're thinking of taxing and insuring it as a camper you are going to find it very difficult if not impossible to vrt and insure it as such.

If you're thinking of crewcabbing it and taxing / insuring it commercial you'll have to sign a declaration at the garda station that you won't be using it for social domestic and pleasure, so you're taking your chances if stopped by customs or guards.

Did you look any further into this !

Im in middle of similar process. I've purchased a Caddy Maxi, had seats installed, I've windows ready to install and I've started insulating and carpet lining it. Plenty of work involved but its a bit of a project that I'm enjoying.
