Standard package for IT redundancy package

    Hi,

    I'm working for a large american IT company with a R&D centre in Dublin. I may be in line to take voluntary redundancy and was wondering if people had any insights into what an IT redundancy package looks like. I've heard 6 weeks per year of service, extension of VHI cover for x months, offer or recruiting and accountancy services (or cash in lieu).

    Any information welcome.

    That's about in line with the two rounds of redundancy I have gone through in the past, in IT multinationals. There was access to outplacement services, 6 weeks per year and tax advice (that bit was very useful). Also counselling access via Employee Assistance services.

    Yep sounds about right 6 weeks per year of service plus statutory entitlement which brings it up to eight altogether. I can't remember exactly but their end of it was capped at 10 years so anything after that was just statutory. At the time if it was your first redundancy you could claim a tax free extension too on the company portion but you'd have to check it out. Benefits continued for 12 months after termination. This was for a forced redundancy not sure if you get statutory for voluntary.
