In reality staff probably held it/bought it

Well if you worked there and were in the market for (or had a mate/family member that was) a hard drive what would you do?

There seem to be a few of the Hitachi 500GB drives left around Dublin; they're coming up at €16.22.

I presume no stores will be restocked?

I rang customer care in Dublin and they guy checked stock in Letterkenny and told me that there was a single Toshiba 1TB in stock but it would be up to the store as to whether they would hold it or not. Couldnt get through to the store on the phone but as it turns out "she who must be obeyed" is in there shopping now so I rang her and she inquired about it only to be told that there were none and the reason the guy in CS in Dublin seen it on his system was because it was showing up as "ghost stock"....basically they did have it but not anymore.

In reality staff probably held it/bought it

It wouldn't show up on the system then. Probably either nicked or mislaid somewhere in the store.

It's worth a try, but I wouldn't go counting any chickens, based on my experience with the Verbatim one yesterday/today. They took the order, but then cancelled it. The stock figures in the system are obviously not 100% accurate.

As pointed out on the Tesco thread, Tesco are downsizing their electrical lines so only minute chance of a restock is if there's stock still sitting in a warehouse somewhere.

Which is unlikely in the extreme.

I thought harddrives were all gone, but found a Seagate Expansion 1TB Portable Hard Drive in Claremorris today for €21.72. Only one on shelf along with a couple of WD's at full price. It wasn't on the shelf yesterday and I asked at customer service and told only WD left, that all rest were sold as soon as price dropped.

I tried price checking the Seagate drive and got "contact staff member" so thought they mightn't sell it to me, but scanned OK at customer service and paid there. It was in one of the plastic security cases, so maybe I was scanning the wrong barcode.

I think you're lucky if you manage to get your hands on one at this point.

In the last 3 days I've been to the following stores and there's no hard drives to be seen (I work on the road, I just called into tesco when passing)
    Bray
    Greystones
    Wicklow
    Arklow
    Gorey
    Dundrum
    Tallaght
    Lucan
    Santry
    Clarehall
    Maynooth
    Naas
    Newbridge
    Kildare

Haha I'm not going into tesco without a need though.

I'm up north today and they have no old hard drive stock left but there is a new WD 500gb on display in a few stores for £12.50. I've been in 3 and there's no stock available but may be worth keeping an eye on down south.

I also got a call that the items I ordered online was out of stock for delivery, on the morning of the delivery day. Hence, the order would be cancelled.

So don't tell them. I've noticed loads of this type of post lately; haven't bothered to read anything, JUST TELL ME THE ANSWER NOW. And you did. So they'll do it again. Ugh. I can't even.

Pity to miss out on the drives, but picked up a verbatim 32gb Micro Plus USB key for €7 and a set of Philips headphones for just over €7, both reduced from over €30 I think, so happy days, thanks for the heads up. :)

I'd imagine if they're having a clearance on electronics then it might be an idea to keep tabs on the few WD drives they still have lying around at full price, can see them dropping in price.
