how would they deliver something they don't have?

Its definitely store specific at this stage, i wouldn't count on any being delivered using the online facility.

Strange how it comes up with 1 GB out of stock, 500MB in stock, when you order, but deliver or refund, as coldifre1x says nothing to lose.

All depends on where your online shopping is delivered from. My local Tescos are in Tralee but online shopping comes from Killarney Park so if something was out of stock in Tralee but available in Killarney, this would save the drive there.

But yeah, it'd be suspicious a bargain like this would be nabbed before it made it into the delivery truck! Especially if the price hasn't been marked down on the shelf and your order therefore alerts the staff!

Bought a 1TB for home delivery now myself .

    Fingers crossed it comes :P

Keep in mind, if you order from tesco for home delivery, and a product isn't in stock, they will substitute it for a similar item.

For example, you buy a tesco sliced pan for 99c, but there's none on the shelf when the staff member is rambling around. So he'll grab a brennans pan for €1.49 and chuck in instead.

As far as I know you only get charged upon delivery, and you have the option to decline the substitute product and they won't charge for it, but you'll still pay delivery fee.

Knowing my luck properly will offer me a tin of biscuits as a substitute.

You can select "no substitute" when ordering.

Just got a text to say my 2 1TB Toshibas aren't in stock due to demand so won't be available for collection (Stillorgan via Bloomfields), sure was worth a shot! :pac:

By complete chance I happened on this earlier as I'm in the market for a new external drive for back up (I've got one already but keep a second one in my brother's house that recently failed) and Tesco was my first port of call and snapped this up.

    Sorry :o

Same for me for the Verbatim 500G one, though it is still showing as available in Stillorgan. I've put in two more orders for that unit at two separate branches, so we'll see if one of them comes through.

There were none on the shelf to begin with and this one was the only one behind the counter, so probably not (I guess there's a small chance they have some in storage, but the place looks to be cleared out).

Feck it. Just seeing this thread now. Letterkenny dont do the click and collect and home delivery wont guarantee that the items are available even though they are in the shopping basket online.

I rang customer care in Dublin and they guy checked stock in Letterkenny and told me that there was a single Toshiba 1TB in stock but it would be up to the store as to whether they would hold it or not. Couldnt get through to the store on the phone but as it turns out "she who must be obeyed" is in there shopping now so I rang her and she inquired about it only to be told that there were none and the reason the guy in CS in Dublin seen it on his system was because it was showing up as "ghost stock"....basically they did have it but not anymore.

Ah well, I need to keep a better eye on this forum

In reality staff probably held it/bought it

Maybe a mod should change the thread title to expired, rather than giving people false hope of getting a cheap hard drive only to be left with a hard drive home and a pack of ginger nut biscuits
