...be careful about spoilers, but what was the best scene in a film?

For me, it's hard to beat the school intro in Donnie Darko, a perfect mix of music, angled shots, speeding up and slowing down, tracking, and we see a lot of the main protagonists in just over 2 minutes of perfection...

Honourable mentions the the finales in the Wicker Man and Ringu, for shock value.

And the scene in Picnic at Hanging Rock where the students ascend the mountain. Haunting.

Have a couple that on occasion still throw on youtube:

    1. Kitchen fight scene in the raid 2 and the lead up to it. In my opinion the best 10 minutes of any action film ever made. Id your an action fan and you haven't seen both raid films I would advise you take tomorrow off and watch them. Nothing else even comes close to that scene.

    2. Any Given Sunday Inches speech with peace playing in the background. It's classic OTT oliver stone and Al Pacino overacting but if that doesn't get you pumped nothing will. Everytime I listen too it I feel like I cold 12 rounds with Tyson.

    3. For comedy it has to be "The running of the Jew" in Borat. I went to see the film in the cinema and not really being a Ali G fan I had absolutely expectations for the film but it was probably one of my favourite cinema experiences simply because it caught me so much by surprise. The best of which was this scene, without even exaggeration I would say I missed the next 5 minutes of the film because I couldn't catch my breath from laughing so much and I would randomly burst out laughing again just thinking about it.

    Dog Soldiers.

After being helidropped into the mountains and tabbing all day.

The section holds up for a few hours, Sean Pertwee tells them a story about his mate that stood on an anti personnel mine. Just as the atmosphere gets heavy...

    BOOOOM!

    Excellent!

    Great scene alright.

Pacino has had a few of those. But none as gritty as his turn in Glengarry Glen Ross..."you fairy, you company man"

    Warning, contains NSFW language.

The scene in Jaws where the compare scars and it ends with Robert Shaws speech about his encounter with sharks while in the Navy during WW2.

An innocuous scene to begin with but has real intensity and Shaws acting is incredible. It also helps add great depth to the Quint character.

This scene pretty much solidified Jennifer Lawrence for me as a superstar. A lot of credit is also deserved for Bradley Cooper for his facial reactions :D

Prefer his long scene at the start of the movie in the farmer's house. Chilling.

The exchange between Norton and Gere at the end of Primal Fear has always been a personal favourite of mine.

In the film Three Colors: White, there is a scene that takes place in a subway. Prior to this scene, one character has asked another to do a particular job for him, and it culminates in this scene in a subway.

I'm not going to put in a video or explain it in more detail because that would spoil it, but it's one of the best scenes I've ever seen in any film.

Threads like always bother me because I know I'm forgetting a load of things I'll recall later, and this is no exception. Expect edits to this post.

But for now, honourable mentions to:
the opening scene of Once Upon a Time in the West ('No, you brought two too many').
Dustin Hoffman's 7-minute take from Lenny.
    Begging scene in Umberto D.
the scene in Secrets and Lies when everything gets revealed.
Two presidents talking on the phone in Dr. Strangelove.
