In limerick, there is the treaty stone and king johns castle. pretty much uses to represent Limerick.

Dublin has the Spire and GPO which when one sees instantly knows its Dublin,

I know we have the dolman rock stuck out in the middle of a field and if you didn't now it would never see it.

So when you see the Pepsi sign you know "Pepsi" coca cola bank the image is Coca-Cola

what exactly is Carlow's singular image or what image best means "Carlow"

By "the dolmen" I take it you mean the Browneshill dolmen rather than Haroldstown?

    The Foundry!

Carlow Castle - I think millford would be another good one that would associate carlow - Duckets Grove etc, altamount, all carlow related and used in pics relating to carlow, without carlow actually being printed on said pics!

Both Browneshil and Haroldstown are surrounded by fields.

Would the symbol not be the skeleton fountain?

Not at all, that is only a blow-in, Maybe the original Haddens fountain might be considered, but the real symbol for Carlow is a big bunch of scallions.

From someone that has only ever been down in Carlow on stag party's or socialising " Dinn Ri " would be the first thing you think of, when you hear carlow mentioned.
