Hi folks. I've snipped videos, they aren't suitable for here and are easily found if anyone does wish to view. Please don't post any NSFW videos i.e bombs going off, people being shot, maimed, etc.

    Thanks

Istanbul airport is the third biggest airport in Europe.

ISIS seems the most likely culprit as the PKK usually attack the military or police.
There are indications the situation is very bad in terms of injuries, a large number of medical people have been sent to the airport and there has been substantial damage inside the airport according to reports.

The attack happened in the international departures area.

Our neighbour and babysitter is in Turkey now. She flew into Tunisia the day of the attacks last year too.

    Hope this isn't too bad.

Police fired at suspects who then detonated their suicide vests.

Reports are that police tried to take down 2 suicide bombers who detonated devices just before they passed the security gates.

Ah hells, I hoped from the early reports it was "just" injuries, and no casualties.

Awful stuff. Will be very telling who Erdogan attributes blame to. Maybe he'll stay silent.

Per MSNBC via an eyewitness, a police officer jumped on top of one of the suicide bombers right as he detonated.

He should blame himself. He supports terrorists.

Bad and all as the situation is, it does appear the Turkish police prevented an even worse outcome.

It is sad that this is now our unavoidable future. There is no stopping this kind of attack, only limiting casualties. It is a war of attrition and they are winning it. Bastards.

BBC saying 3 attacks, 1 in the carpark and 1 each in departures and arrivals.

Health warning this is coming from a correspondent speaking live via Skype on a just landed flight.

Absolutely. Would be no harm at all if a stray bullet flew his way:rolleyes:

Lads, instead of ripping the p!ss with the comments about Buddhists, Christians and so on, how about sparing a thought for the innocent victims who've just been horrifically murdered, yeah?
