Irish people and cats

    Well, what's the story there?

    Majority of people I meet always say "I don't like cats" or some people down right HATE cats - like passionately hate them.


    Seems to be only an Irish thing too, what's going on there?

    Don't think it's Irish really, I think there's a love/hate relationship with them in all place. I love them though, would like to get one some day, great companions and not in need of constant attention like dogs.

    I think you're stereotyping a lot OP. I can't stand Cats myself but know many Irish people who love them. I also know British and French people who hate cats. It's not an Irish thing in either respect.

    I think the OP is right. It's an Irish thing. There is not a single person outside Ireland that hates cats. Not one. In the whole world like.

    Love playing "kill the cat" while driving. Wouldn't necessarily go into the hard shoulder for one though, that's not very sportsmanlike.

    People who have an insatiable need to be loved or need a pet to be an emotional crutch and tell them how wonderful they are, should stick with dogs. They wouldn't be able for the reality of having a cat.

    Became a cat owner two months ago when a stray arrived at my door. I'm a dog person and never thought a cat could fit into a house with dogs but I love that little guy and he's become my dogs best friends.

    I don't hate cats, I hate their owners that don't bother their hole training them and let them ****e all over the place and generally create a nuisance of themselves, much like dog owners.:mad:

    I asked my cat how I should vote in the EU referendum and he kept signalling to go out but just sat there when I opened the door.

    Some people do hate them but IMO a lot of people play it up, for whatever reason. Or are like "Yeah, but dogs are way better". I dunno, it's very weird.

    I love both doggies and kitties. They're great.

    Dogs stink. Cats are clean. They particularly like to make sure their arse hole is clean and then they'll often shove it in your face for reassurance.

    My son has been asking can we get a cat, this has been going on for a few years now, he's 18 now and still asks every so often, I still give him the same answer, No, No, Never, hate them
