    Hey all,

Just asking for a friend who wants to study medicine abroad (EU country).

They are of the opinion that they won't be able to get a loan of about 30k to cover fees and living expenses, if they do the degree abroad rather than in Ireland. They have about 15k in savings and preferably would like to start repayments once they graduate.

I know of people who have done that here, for medicine at least. Can anyone give me more information about this?

I'd say no chance unless you have someone to act as guarantor living here.

Banks barely give student loans to Irish citizens who will remain in the country afterwards. There is very little chance they will give a loan to a non-national for study even with a guarantor.
