Referee is the bastard child of a travelling gelato salesman

    It's the only explanation

This is brutal. Everything just makes me angry, all the shaping and cheating and screeching and kicking and falling. I used to love the football but can't really stand it any more.

Exact same here. But it's why I loved the euros and World Cup because it was much less evident here before, not this time though :(

Not doing too bad considering we're up against 12 men.

This is what I was prepared to say tonight

"I've seen better games of Subbuteo played by blind people with no fingers"

    Buuut

We are actually giving it a good go!

Aaaand Roy Keane's beard looks like it wants to fight someone!

13 if you include the blind guy behind the italian goal.

I thought we played very well there. The ref has bottled it.

Hopefully, we can keep this up, get a couple of goals and keep the party going :)

Good performance so far. Pity about the ref bottling the penalty.

Sometimes the frustration of playing against the ref gets the blood going and a payback goal in the net. I hope :p

Id say TV3 are doing great business with their ads tonight, specifically those aimed at Swedes/Belgians!

Out of interest, do the refs performances be reviewed after matches? What happens in that process?

If they're found to have made a stupid and obvious decision which affects the outcome of a match do they get reprimanded or what?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,460 ✭✭✭Barry Badrinath

    ^^^

They hand in their whistle and revert back to ref school.

The way the modern game is going the most goofy f**ker will probably get to referee the final

No idea, but I know Colombian footballers get a tough time for making mistakes though.

The Italians should just let us win. They owe us for that time we gave a load of their own homes following the Great Chipper Exile of 1936

Commentators describing some lairy prick throwing himself on the floor as 'clever' and 'experienced'. You wouldn't let a three year old off with that, why are they praising the worst kind of cheating?

Yes they get reviewed, and yes they can be reprimanded, which could takes the form of not reffing any more in the tournament. In exceptional cases that is announced publicly.

It's often not clear as who gets to ref games depends on which teams get through each round anyway, and also there is naturally less need for referees as the games get less numerous.

We'll hardly get the same amount of chances in the second half as the first including the lost penalties. These greasy f**kers could sneak in a goal against us now. Italy appear bit more lively in the second half.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,669 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

That's some diving going on there from Italians.

All we need is one goal, will be very hard to come back if Italy scored first.

Hope you all have the candles burning and the mass said...

Italy starting to look like Ireland.

This is reminiscent of France '09, Ireland are playing with an 'Ah f*ck it' attitude and there is an incompetent dope for a ref, hope this has a happier ending though :(

Ronnie Whelan must have scored a million billion goals when he was playing because he always knows what the player should have done.

Does Seamus Coleman have any teeth? Every time the camera is on him he is gaping with his tongue halfway out of his mouth.
