Having the based craft operate the first departures each way saves the hotel and allowances costs

Only if the crew are U.S. based. I have a friend who flew out of Boston to Shannon last year on an AL flight and he said it was awful. The crew were American . He said it was 'a White plane' . He 's from Boston but said he couldn't understand a word the crew said - southern accents. He wasn't impressed.

    757's going nowhere.

Don't see them been US based unless they were to return to something like IAD-MAD from a few years ago.

Just trying to figure out where the pax and position for that many new A330 in a short period is coming from. Either new routes? which might link into the cancelled announcement last week (But I doubt it was EI)

But EI have said they want to be a full airbus fleet, so figured that maybe this new rumoured delivery is replacing the 757

That was probably the short term Omni Air lease, it operated SNN-BOS-SNN for approx 12 weeks last summer (and is doing so again this summer) Omni Air aircraft and crew. Its increases capacity from under 170 to approx 260 seats per day.

That was probably it, last July.

I was quoting a post referring to Heathrow...

    About 175 to 215.

I'm unsure if the actual 767 in EI colours is actually in service, does anyone have any info on this?

N234AX in the hybrid EI colours operated its first service on the route into SNN this morning. This is the dedicated aircraft for the 12 week lease.

Anyone around to get a few pictures?

Attached is a photo of the aircraft taken from Facebook. Looks well. Fair beats the wild Atlantic way livery from last year.

Should we change the name of this thread cause it still has 2015?

    Done

Its great to miss the first 2 weeks of a 12 week lease isn't it? Rather disgraceful.

    Why was that..?

The flights still operated without major issue, a different aircraft (763) was provided by Omni as intended frame (762) wasn't ready.

Yes the aircraft wasn't in this livery nor did it have the same on board product but I don't think that quite qualifies as disgraceful.

Yes it does:confused: Should consumers not expect any level of service? OMNI have proven to have very poor standards of service, something that quite regularly annoys people who have paid for an Aer Lingus flight, to be throw onto such a poor service of an airline.

I believe though that all the issues from last year have been corrected,

And the service this year was going to be of Aer Lingus standard

The difference in product was minimal and either way it's still an Omni aircraft whether there's a temporary shamrock on the tail or not.

The flights still operated without distruption for two weeks but just happened to be on a Omni 763 instead of an Omni 762.

Negetive, the difference was large. No business class for starts!

Yeah, I've heard the same, but the aircraft didn't arrive for 2 weeks!

The 762 hasn't much of a business class either to be honest!

Omni couldn't provide the intended aircraft on time, another aircraft was sourced, passengers were informed and the flights operated without issue.

The Omni/Aer Lingus set up isn't perfect but there's very few options available to provide that kind of temporary uplift in capacity in such a seasonal market like Shannon. Ironing out issues that we saw last year was vital and it appears they've made a lot of progress but were unlucky at the start.

A disgrace would have been to delay the start of the flights for two weeks.

Big difference between much and none.
Omni couldn't provide the intended aircraft on time, another aircraft was sourced, passengers were informed and the flights operated without issue.

Is that acceptable? Aer Lingus intentionally upgraded the service due to all the complaints last year, yet the service was actually worse than last year for the first two weeks.

The upgrade isn't for extra capacity at SNN, it's to supply a 757 for extra DUB capacity. (JFK)

Didn't you just say the difference was minimal?

Genuine question: Would this level of service be accepted if it was DUB? The fact that it's SNN or not shouldn't be an issue here.

    .

And it just so happens the larger aircraft will get them the cream over the busier summer weeks, so it suits them that the 752 is needed elsewhere

It likely suits the pax numbers, but at the cost of the EI service, although hopefully those issues will be fixed this year.

Will be interesting to hear feedback at the end of the season.

Does that 767 have the same lie flat BC seats as the other EI A/C...?

No, but no real difference as the 757's didn't have them either.

Haven't the 757s had the Thompson lie flat business seat for some time now?

EI-135 yesterday was the first day of the new seats (same as 757), prior to that the business class service over the first 2 weeks was shockingly bad for the price

DUB-EWR due to start daily from Sept 1st so would expect 1st A333 a little before then.
DUB-BDL on the B757 to start Sept 28th so expect 2nd A333 to be delivered before this date (to free up B757)

Am just basing this on my assessment of possible use of aircraft and the published schedule as per aerlingus.com.
