Have an upgrade due soon. Can get an S7 for €99 on VF (€60 p/m). Or I could get an S6 for €0 on €40 p/m. I have spent the last year using crappy phones due to not having cash available, and I can't afford to drop a lot of money in one go on a phone, so I'm think the €5 per week extra for the S7 isn't so bad, and it would have a much better resale value in like 12 months than an S6.

    Opinions?

If it's a 24-month contract, multiple it by €40 = €960 + €99 = €1059 as the real cost of your phone. Or, rather, I'm getting a monthly plan for €40 cheaper, for €19.37 that "includes unlimited calls and texts to any Irish network and landlines with an increase to 5gb of data." The price they charged me for the S7 was €519, and it is a 24-month contract. Yesterday morning I moved to Three, after 15 years with Meteor, to avail of it.

The s7 is worth it for battery alone (and waterproofing). I came from S6 edge to s7 edge and I loved the S6 edge but the battery was its Achilles heel

I get how the long contracts work, and I am aware the cost of the phone over the lifetime of the contract ends up an awful lot higher, but equally I don't have the funds available to drop €500+ right now on a phone...

Re. the waterproofing - am I right in saying I could stand in the shower with phone in my hand with no worries at all?

How do you change the background on the 'Always On' feature (i.e. the page that has the clock/calendar on with a black background when the phone's on standby)?

If you go into the Always on Display settings, there is an option to edit Background Image. It is set to a few select styles though, you cannot use your own.

The cost of the phone works out at around 580 over the period when you separate it from Service Charges and the entertainment add-on for Spotify or Sky Sports.

I haven't actually tried it but apparently yes! There are a lot of video's of people throwing the phone into shallow pools and it keeping working regardless. Apparently its waterproof in depths of 1 metre for 30 minutes

Has anyone here tried it? I used have a HTC One M7 way back, and because of the boomsound  speakers I was able to plonk it near shower and hear podcasts with no issue. Other phones I've had since have not been loud enough to properly hear them, so being able to pop phone somewhere in shower and not have to worry about splashes/water would be handy...

Yeah, both of them (in the calendar) and the eight of them (in the time/clock) are black backgrounds. That's a pity.

I sent mine back because of the battery and ended up backing out of the contract.
Teh report came back saying that there was no fauklt with teh phone, yet it wouldn't hold a charge for a day (out of the box). This is more than teh update mentioned above I think.

Only day 2 of using it and find it takes a long time to charge and uses it up quickly. Hopefully it's only a teething issue.

yes it's working on windows 7,8 and 10.

    -go to settings
-developers option (activate it by pressing build number x amount of times under about phone)
    - under developers option enable "usb debugging" and OEM unlock just like the attached pic.
    - scroll down a bit still under developers option and look for "usb configuration" make sure it is on MTP (Media Transfer Protocol)

under PC smart switch try reinstalling the drivers (upper right).

Alternatively plug your phone to your pc and change the usb configuration under developers option from charging to MTP and see if your pc recognises it

Here's a guide on how to:

depends if you are on a carrier branded S7 or the unbranded one.

The unbranded BTU UK one recently had an update last friday http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G935F/BTU/

My S7 from T-dimension arrived last week, quick delivery and great price - was absolutely chuffed with the phone... until yesterday.

I cycle and run and have always used Strava to record my outings. Noticed yesterday that, although I hit record before I left work, it didn't start recording until about 5km in to my cycle. Same thing happened to me at lunch today on my run, run came up 1.3km short of my regular distance and I can see from the recording it didn't start when I hit record.

I have location on (GPS, wifi and network), battery is charged with no power-saving allowed for Strava. Had been using it every day for a week with no issues.

Can't for the life of me figure out what might be causing it.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Really hope it's not a faulty device as I'm sure sending the phone back to T-Dimension will be a pain...

I've not seen anything like that.

Double check that the app isn't blocked from using location services and /or is in battery saving mode.

Yep have double checked both those, all settings are as they should be AFAIK...

I've downloaded GPS Status from Google Play store and right now it will search and search but won't lock on any satellite...could be the building I'm in so will test outside later on. If it won't lock on any satellite maybe the Strava readings I had been getting were based off network/wifi?

Will do a little more digging before I declare this an issue, hopefully something easily rectified. Looks like there are a couple threads over on XDA Developers with similar issues but no clear solution

Does google maps work? I just tested mine there and it seems to be locking fine.

If I have "Locating method" set to "GPS, Wi-Fi and mobile networks" Google Maps finds me straight away

    however

if I have "Locating method" set to "GPS only" Google maps has no idea where I am... again leading me to believe that the actual GPS in the device is not working as expected

It does sound like a GPS issue alright.

One last roll of the dice could be to perform a factory reset.

Yes I'll try absolutely everything before I contact t-dimensions! Fingers crossed it's a software issue rather than hardware - really don't want to have to send it back, love the phone.

Just noticed there is a software update available, I'm currently on G930FXXU1APB6 and it'll allow me to update to G930FXXu1APDU.

Have you ran an update since you received the phone?
