Expect the 767 to stay longer than required for the BOS route, due into SNN later on this week.

Could operate out of DUB after.

I confused as to what you mean.

The 767-200 is in Shannon now, are you saying that it will operate past August?

    767-200 operating, 767-300 due Thursday.

    Yes, out of DUB.

    Why's the 767-300 coming Thursday?

Anyone know why Titan 737 operated DUB-FAO-DUB today? Are EI short an a320? Surly with the strikes today they wouldn't have been?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 381 ✭✭orionm_73

It was the 0950 departure to Faro operated by Titan. Maybe the cancelled flights didn't line up from a departure time aspect? Plus there were a lot of delays on other flights due to the ATC disruption. There might not have been a spare aircraft despite the 3 cancelled flights.

White atr coming in apparently from Toulouse when I was leaving DUB earlier. New delivery or FR24 error?

The A320 on loan from Vueling went tech at LHR on Monday which probably didn't help either

    New delivery EI-FSK

It's back in service now, I didn't realise this was a loan? Thought it was a swap out for the a319? Will this a320 go back after the summer so?

EI-REH to Monchengladbach on 12/5/16 - presumably for scrapping.

Or for aircraft to arrive from out stations (Heathrow) or to return from their first return flight.

Are there many aircraft in LHR overnight? Didnt EI stop all European stopovers a few years back? I guess first wave of returnees would be back from UK/Euro airports at 0900-1000?
Obviously we have the A330's coming in from the US (~3 approx 5am, with another 2-3 at 8-9am)

Think it's 2 in Heathrow and one in Gatwick too I'm almost sure

Two aircraft overnight in LHR to operate the EI149 and EI151 to Dublin, the first of which arrives at 08:00, and the second at 08:55.

No aircraft overnighting in Gatwick (since last year) or on the continent any more.

First wave of return flights (ignoring EI Regional) starts with Manchester and Birmingham with the former (EI203) at 09:00 and the latter (EI263) at 09:10.

EI603 is next from Amsterdam at 10:05 and EI153 follows from LHR at 10:10.

It's not until closer to 11:00 that EI short haul flights start returning in any great numbers.

Hence from a short haul perspective T2 is an oasis of calm between 08:00 and 11:00!

You would imagine in time the LHR ones will be replaced by BA to reduce costs, assuming stands at DUB are available

That's certainly what has happened between BA and Iberia on the Heathrow-Madrid route.

There has been mention of EI considering re-establishing overnight out stations on the continent to free up stand space in Dublin and to feed into their transatlantic operations.

Wouldn't expect it anytime soon if my sources are correct. Its not something that EI could make work in a big way from a financial prospective.

Why would you assume that. Willy is on record saying we have a lower cost product. Why not green aircraft flying into T5? Lots of rumours of the early departures being merged and heavier metal such as the 330 operating to free up slots. Time will tell.

T5 is completely full, and there's absolutely no spare A330 capacity

Talks of an A330 into LHR on the EI154(I think) when the 2nd set of 2 A330s arrive in spring.

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators Posts: 10,098 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tenger

6 sounds a bit much. Considering the fleet will be 10 A330s in Sep this year. 60% growth in one year?
I had heard 2 A330 for early Summer 2017 with 'maybe' 2 others.

Only possible way I could see 6 A333's entering the fleet is if they are getting rid of 4 A332 or lease on a particular 4 aircraft are up and won't be renewed.

They will not add capacity for 6 A333's into the T/A market ex DUB in one year.

They could be looking at the European network though! Especially now they are going big on selling TA to Europeans. (someone mentioned this a few days ago regarding Rome I think)

I know its a much taller prospect turning around a 333 compared to a 320, but they've done it at Malaga, so why not do it on some of the routes they are looking to build TA traffic on via DUB?
There are certain times of the day when T2 is like a ghost town, so at the right times, the capacity could be there.

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators Posts: 10,098 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tenger

I would be careful of "GalleyFM". Very easy for people to heard the same rumour twice but think it is 2 seperate rumours.

I doubt EI can provide Flight crew for 4 extra A330 in 2017, let alone 6. As Jamie says, fleet renewal would be only possibility. And the 9 A350s on order were originally planned as flert renewal.

If they add 2 more in 2017 as planned they have flexibility in terms of Europe however getting A333's just for Europe will never stack up financially.

Now the other plausible thing is an order for 6 will be placed and they will replace some if not all planned A350's to EI instead.

This makes more sense to me in terms of "done and dusted with IAG a couple of weeks back" ....because we had the interview with the EI CEO recently which emphasised how the current success of EI was built on using the A330. Almost sounds like a man laying the groundwork for an announcement at a later stage?

I initially heard that there would be 4 330'S in 2017 with 2 being based in USA.The 2 in spring/summer 2017 are definite, heard nothing recently to bolster the US rumours.
EI-FNG is currently getting its colours in the paintshop at A330 FAL toulouse

Cheaper by the full costs of overnighting?

Having the based craft operate the first departures each way saves the hotel and allowances costs

An interesting idea, them being US based.
I think American are looking to get shot of their A330s, so they could have some ready trained crews there.

Taking the boeings out and putting their own crew in from next season. Are these new assets from airbus? Could it be possible to get that many so quickly?

    757's going nowhere.

Don't see them been US based unless they were to return to something like IAD-MAD from a few years ago.
