George Hook blaming it on racial and cultural diversity. You couldn't make it up

White British man kills a white British woman in cold blood and it's the immigrants fault

How is that windbag still on the air?

I can just imagine his saliva, piss and sweat forming a turlough under his mic at times like this.

It wasn't a terrorist related attack.
    Motive unknown?

Poor woman, and she has two young children.

May have been a lone nutter, but it sounds like one who was "radicalised online" by this Britain First group given that he was shouting that when he murdered her.

Replace Britain First with Allahu Akbar and it's a terrorist attack all of a sudden.

I'd say the motive was pretty clear.

Reports are that he shouted Britain First and that may refer to a party that is a breakaway from BNP. If so that makes it political and terrorism.

Yes but there are conflicting reports about that. We shouldn't just all jump in with conclusions.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

A woman has just died. Now is not the time for petty point scoring.

    Very conflicting.

The guy had mental health issues and their is reports she tried to break up a fight with the alleged killer and another person.

Their is eye witnesses who are also saying he did not shout Britain first either.

Britain first are absolute scum, but we need to get all the facts before we implicate them here.

Stuff like that pisses me off. He should have enough awareness to know that he can't use his show as his own personal soapbox. Who knows what the motive was...maybe he was a Britain First nutjob, maybe he felt she didn't help him in some way, maybe he's just crazy. I wish people would wait and not speculate on the reasons why especially on national airwaves. Awful tragedy for her and her family especially her young children.

It depends. Apparently a police officer said him shouting 'Britain First!' was hearsay, he could just be a lone nutter without much political motive.

However, if he was doing this to attempt to further Britain First's cause (with or without their consent) it definitely is an act of terrorism. It's at the point that we get more details where I'd be more concerned with how the media treats it.

Yes but there are conflicting reports about that. We shouldn't just all jump in with conclusions.

There are a number of named witnesses though.

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/jo-cox-shot-live-latest-news-updates-birstall-shooting-stabbing-labour-mp-west-yorkshire-a7085561.html
    an hour ago
At this stage we have three separate named witnesses who say the attacker shouted "Britain First" during the incident.

Clarke Rothwell told the Huddersfield Examiner: "He was shouting what sounded like `Britain First, Britain First' but then seemed to panic and hurried off."

Graeme Howard told The Guardian: "I heard the shot and I ran outside and saw some ladies from the cafe running out with towels,” he said.

“There was loads of screaming and shouting and the police officers showed up.
“He was shouting Britain First when he was doing it... He was pinned down by two police officers and she was taken away in an ambulance.”

And Aamir Tahir told the Press Association: "The lady I work with heard two loud bangs. I wish I was there because I would have tried to stop him.

"Apparently the guy who did it shouted 'Britain first' and if I had been there I would have tackled him."

He didn't shout 'Britain First' apparently. The media were editorialising again. You simply can't trust the media at times like this. Remember the 'Serbian Secret Service' who had killed Jill Dando until another 'loner' was arrested and locked up for years?

Have the Freddy Mercury posters been found on his wall yet?

The media are the biggest trolls and parasites of all

    I hope the lady recovers.

However, I am still putting on my conspiracy hat for this one...shades of Dr Kelly and Mi5 under orders from the pro EU British establishment to generate a spectacular to swing undecided voters to the pro EU side.

From Britain First' point of view doing this would make no sense. If BF were a patsy operation run by Mi5 (like the IRA were during the Shankill Bombing), it makes loads of sense.

After all, we are talking about the same establishment bunch who murder 14 year old boys during S&M sex parties, protect Jimmy Savile for 40 years and then lock up Rolf Harris instead.

Of course I know this is boards and boardies see people in positions of great power as infallible paragons of virtue incapable of 'conspiracies'...

Point scoring over an elected officials murder is pathetic either way. People would do well to shut the **** up and wait.

Hook makes no secret of (or apology for) the fact that, as far as he's concerned, it's "the George Hook show" ... a mix of news, comment and opinion ... his opinion.

I love Newstalk but I switched him off a long time ago.

Maria Eagle tweeted that the killer allegedly shouted Britain first and many people have used that a source. She has now deleted her tweet, she could be right but by deleting it, its safe to say she is not sure.

The fallout on twitter has been very messy as expected. Plenty of people still using it to attack the right and the leave campaign, however even if it is proved that this attack had nothing to do with politics, the triumphalism of the right in their reaction is pretty grim to read when a mother who from all accounts was a cracking person has been murdered is not nice to read.

The internet is a rotten place isn't it?:(

There are some people who are on the scene saying categorically that he never said this.

    http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/britain-first-been-holding-activist-11474970

If this guy turns out to be a member should they be listed as a terrorist organisation?

    According to Wiki:

Britain First is a far-right, and British nationalist political party and movement formed in 2011 by former members of the British National Party (BNP). The party is led by a former BNP councillor Paul Golding, and was founded by Jim Dowson, an anti-abortion campaigner linked to Ulster loyalist militants.

Britain First are a shower of *****. But the media running with a loaded comment like this makes it a big deal if it was actually said or not.

If he did not say it then someone told a very dangerous lie, and why they told that lie matters very much indeed.

RTE reporting she intervened in a row and was shot. She wasn't specifically targeted.
Different sort of crime and not political it seems.

    Tragedy though.

Jeremy Corbyn made the point that the why and how will come out over the coming days.

For now our thoughts should go out to the friends and family. A very remarkable person by what she has done in her life.

Apparently now, she was the victim of a row between two other people. Not targeted?

Still horrible, but how quickly and fast the dynamics of the media reporting of these events can change.

I think it's important to bear in mind that at this point there is no apparent reason for this ladies brutal murder. I'm hearing an awful lot of political capital being made and pro refugee stuff being generated in the media, which I think is awful. Reports of the murderer having shouted a pro Brexit message have been proven untrue, which means that someone in the Remain party has tried to use her death for their own political agenda. This man may have been a disgruntled constituent who was angry about a different issue, or a mentally ill person. Whatever the reason, the fact remains that a woman is dead, her children are motherless and her husband is a widow. It is not the right time for agenda pushing.

It is just the way people talk when they find something shocking.
I don't thnk the poster is cursing god and then invoking his help.

Like if i called you a dick. Im not actually saying you are a penis.

I see Britain First started from the BNP, enough said really.
BNP was a seriously hateful organisation that really only closed up shop because they were caught on undercover camera with some seriously racist stuff

I agree. But there is no proof they were behind this.
