Found tick on body, removed it but not sure if it's all gone.

This is only something small.

Anyways I woke up this morning to find an itchy spot on my side. That wouldn't usually worry me or anything but I happened to look down to find a tick. I took it out but I'm not sure if I got it all because there is a small black dot right in the middle if what is now a red lump.

I know medical advice isn't allowed here on boards.ie and I'm not looking for medical advice here. I don't know what to do here. Should I make an appointment at my GP to get it looked at? I don't have some other small issues that I've put on the long finger and always meaning to make an appointment with my GP for months so never got around to doing that so I could perhaps get it all seen to tomorrow.

I would. Black dot could mean the head is left inside. It can easily happen. Also keep an eye on the red swelling it shouldn't be around more than three days after thick is removed. I used to get quite a few and didn't catch anything but they can be extremely dangerous so just keep an eye on it for a few days afterwards.

Sorry OP, I'm afraid any replies will lead posters into medical advice so I suggest you book an appointment with your GP and get it looked at, along with the other things you'd like to sort out.

Ticks are easily caught from livestock or from sitting in grass (easily done in this lovely weather recently) but ensuring you remove them properly is important so a GP will need to check, and if not, sort it out for you.

You absolutely should go to your GP. Lyme disease has come to this country and early intervention is imperative so really important to have it seen to ASAP as I think they can prevent it if caught early.
