If UEFA want to be taken seriously they need to act,
England & Russia to be ejected from the tournament immediately, with Wales given 1st place in the group, Slovakia given second based on their head to head, playing each other again twice in a friendly to use up their remaining match days for players/fans etc...
Might seem quite harsh on the 90-95% of genuine Russian/English fans, but so what. If elements can't behave, they ruin it for all, and will thus hopefully get castigated when they return home. Maybe this would also give the home authorities the kick up the backside to ensure these thugs are never let travel again during a major tournament.
Obviously that doesn't work in 2 years with the World Cup in Russia (which I can't help but think is going to be an absolute disaster, with the 'locals' (meat headed thugs) in every hosting city coming out every night looking for their 'go' off visiting fans).
It doesn't get much better 4 years later either! (a Duth woman has just been arrested for adultry in Qatar for being drugged & raped in a nightclub)

I won't lost too much sleep if we don't qualify for the next 2 world cups!!
The Euro's all the way for me.

    Quite the opposite.

Big difference between Paris and Marseille. Marseille is French only in title.

Buddy of mine is down in Marseilles for the match. He says there is no trouble and everyone is nice and friendly. Wonder if he went to Nice by accident.

Just got an update from him this morning. Seems that he got caught up in the trouble minutes after his tweet saying there was no bother.

Should turf out both Russia and England, plus a slap around the head for UEFA's planning.

Decision could be made very easy for UEFA by the cities slated to host both teams' remaining games, stating that they're unwilling to accommodate a bunch of neanderthals wrecking the place. Unfortunate for the majority of fans who just want to go to the tournament and enjoy the experience, but there's clearly a predictably a rotten element at work that needs to be put down.

Give Wales and Slovakia automatic qualification, and hand the 3rd spot to the best 4th place team in the other groups. Easy.

Plus it'd be hilarious to hear ITV going on about how England were denied their rightful trophy etc etc, footballs coming home etc etc, Justice for the England XI etc etc

Sounds a bit like John Delaney's make Ireland the 33rd team at the world cup suggestion.

Don't need to do this as only the 4 best 3rd place finishers out of 6 groups qualify,
It would just mean 4 3rd place finishers out of only 5 groups instead of the 6.

Agh....meant give it to the next best placed team finishing runner up - or rather, pick your 4 best placed 3rd runner-ups from the the 5 other groups.

Which'd probably exclude Ireland as luck would have it.

The Russians should be ejected immediately as they attacked England fans inside the stadium. Outside the stadium it can be argued that they can't be held responsible but inside it is a different matter and the Russians should be told to get to feck.

I wouldn't be blaming the Russians from what I have seen and heard.

You can't expel teams because their fans start fighting and then on the other hand support World Cup tournaments run by corrupt oligarchs with oppressive laws.

Also, you'd have to throw out the hosts along with the English and Russians. There'll be fines and as the Russians have only just finished a sentence for racist chanting, perhaps a couple of home games behind closed doors although a ban on away fans for the next campaign might work better.

Jesus the French security forces look totally inept at dealing with the hooligans. If they are so focused on anti terror ops over hooliganism then how did the Russians get fireworks and firecrackers into the stadium? Wouldn't fill me with confidence at all.

To be fair they probably do confiscate a fair amount off the people they search coming in, but some always get through and more than likely, they can't search every single person even with heightened security measures, given the amount of people involved and the time constraints.

For all we know, a smart rabble-rouser would have a firecracker designed to be found and one to be used, and these Russian lads are organised.

Would like to see more cracking of heads from the French police though all the same.

Watching the EnglandRussia game last night, I was shocked to see segregation that looked like little more than columns the width of 4-5 empty seats, with a line of stewards/security at each side of the column. That's absolutely useless between two sets of fans with the reputation they have.

Maybe I didn't see it properly though.

I'd say it's just your basic stadium security, a quick pat down and on you go, a well placed flare tied to your leg could easily get past security. They've to deal with a crowd of 30 to 40 thousand people so it isn't going to be a detailed search.

I'd be more worried about why so little security was placed between opposition fans on that stand, I mean surly the violence earlier that day should of made it clear that something could easily happen in the ground.

That's all it was, they should it on BBC news later on in a report, very small segregation and very little security in between

Brian Kerr is probably a lovely man but I just can't listen to him so I've BBC1 on.

UEFA are going to take action against the Russian FA due to the crowd trouble inside the stadium apparently. About time and I hope they throw the book at the Russians. The French should also take a long hard look at their supposed security measures. There no way that should have been allowed to happen inside a stadium nowadays.

It'll be a €10,000 fine and a public warning to stop their fans acting the maggot, and thats it, it'll go no further.

Just switched on. F**k me what a volley/goal by Modric. Way better than Dyer's goal yesterday IMO.

The worldwide audience must be going through a state of mass confusion at the moment.

A team called Ireland playing, wearing green, yet all the fans have English flags and they played the English national anthem before the game!!
