    Or if you do not play an instrument then what song you would like to play the most on your favourite instrument.

    Heres mine:
    Instrument - Guitar
    Favourite song I can play - The Haunted - Bury Your Dead.

    Hmm...

    I like guitar best.
    Mainly play my own stuff, but when not playing that I play:
    Burzum - War
    Iron Maiden - Remember Tomorrow
    Anathema - Sleepless
    Bach - Toccata & Fuge

    And I'm currently trying to adapt Duel Of The Fates squeezed onto 2 guitars, bass and drums. It's going suprisingly well considering I've only been at it 2 days.

    And on Bass, I like to play Tool - Schism

    Fine then, you're not getting my transcript of Duel Of The Fates when I'm done.

    In fact, NONE of you are!!!

    Instrument = Bass
    Song = Knowledge
    Band = Operation Ivy / Greenday
    The only song I can actually play on abss. Decided I'd learn the hard version to WOW the crowd if I got pulled out to play at any Greenday shows :)

    Instrument = Drums
    Song = On The Outside
    Band = No Use For A Name
    Head down race for the end. Blast beats with one beater :)

    Instrument = Guitar
    Song = Fúck Authority / Bro Hymn
    Band = Pennywise
    Simple classics. Always good for bashing your head off the frame of the door while jumping around playing :)

    That's my list.

    ok, i may be band-wagon jumping here, but before last week i had never heard of that band, but i (ahem) "acquired" it (perfectly legally...yes, yes, that will do...) (cough cough) on the internet, and i have been singing that song incessantly ever since- it's just gorgeous- i've never heard a rock/metal song that so perfectly suited a woman's voice!! and what's great is that she's an alto too- so it fits my range as well! rest assured i have placed my order with cdwow already!!!

    Funnily enough... I sorta like that song. It's very very catchy. The guy on vocals is a bit gay tbh. The woman sounds well though.

    Bass: All of the Rage Against the Machine songs, not technically brilliant but so much fun to play. Deftones stuff too those basic nu-metal riffs are so much fun especially My Own Summer and Headup.

    I'd say Frantic would be a fun one, but i've no 5-string...

    Guitar: Am I Evil - hehe the only thing i can play on the guitar :D

    On guitar, I have to say either For The Love Of God by Steve Vai or else Orion just for pure kicks.

    Bass wise, it's either Orion or My Friend Of Misery

    You should try learning some Tenacious D. They've got some nice riffs, different styles and it's fuking great at parties!!!!

  • Moderators, Regional North East Moderators Posts: 12,742 Mod ✭✭✭✭cournioni

    I learnt Slayer's "Raining Blood", "Dead Skin Mask" and "South Of Heaven" all in full today. I'm fairly proud of myself. :D

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    Solos and all? I'd say that was a good laugh. I spent the day practing For The Love of and trying to play Surfing With The Alien.

    Yep solos and all. They're quite easy. I'm a fairly decent shredder some days and thats all Slayer really do. I learnt the start of For The Love Of God today too. Quite easy, but I'm not gonna even bother trying to do the solo!! :D

    Don't have a Floyd Rose on my Warlock. :( I can make the harmonics sound a little like the original ones on their album.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    You definately need a good tremolo to play For The Love. Although you could probably just use a wah pedal on certain bits to cover up.

    Or just get a whammy pedal. :D

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    Or an Ibanez! Probably cost the same price anyway. Still You can't do classy vibrato with a whammy pedal and there's no substitute for a real dive bomb at the 12th!

    Yeah, I love dive bombs. Azagthoth from Morbid Angel is the master of them!

    Any chance you know what the difference is between the old and new Whammy pedals?

    I play the bass, but badly :D

    I love to play:
    Fear Factory - Escape Confusion
    Dimmu Borgir - Burn in Hell
    RATM - Settle for Nothing
    Slayer - Bloodline (pointlessly easy)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,256 ✭✭✭c0rk3r

    Bass

    Metallica - for whom the bell tolls (mainly cause of the intro )

    Iron Maiden - Blood brothers and fear of the dark ( very simple but fun to play )

    Opeth - Ending Credits
    Black Sabbath - Into the Void
    Thin Lizzy - Cold Sweat.

    on me decks - blake 7 "amber leaf" on deck one, mix in pieter k's "under the radrar remix" two thirds of the way through so the first nonfiltered drums drop at exactly the same time as the second break with the hi hats comes back in, pull back the mid-eq on deck one, turning it up on deck two to get the twinky spaces noises some room, s l o o o w l y beef up the bass on turntable two, and as soon as the bass drop for the last 16 bars happens on deck one spin it back and whack the gain on deck two up one whole notch just as that big whooshy noise comes through... :cool: :D

    on piano "chopsticks"

    on guitar - any random twelve bar blues thingy... never liked playing other peoples stuff on a guitar so all i ever learnt was scales and chords, to the surprise of my teacher at the time... he couldnt believe that the reason i didnt want to learn to play any of the beatles or nivana or whateve stuff was that id never heard any of it and just wanted to learn how to play the damn guitar...
    that said i think that mixing or ****ing about with a synth/sequencer/sampler is a lot more satisfying... a favourtite thing of mine to do is to hook up my pc through my soundsystem, pick ten drum sounds and three synth patches and record an hour of music with no other preparation in one take... looping extracting editing writing everything on the fly with no cueing audio or monitor, just the big speakers....

    Ive been having a lot of fun recently trying to learn:
    Opeth - Bleak

    I've started playing the riff from Frantic a lot. It's just really catchy IMO

    I like to play Opeth - Serenity Painted Death a lot because a) It's challenging enough and b) It's damn good. Other than that, something like Carcass - Buried Dreams (without the solo, I'm not THAT good) and something like Behemoth - As Above So Below....
