Hairy Legs?

I'm a normal girl who's rather interested in feminism, and I'm just wondering if hairy legs really do upset men, and do they really turn them off?

MY legs are and have been hairy for several years now, and very fews guy have actually commented on it, most of them then to ignore it.

So lads? lasses? What do you think?

    feministic. xxx

while you have every right to be feministic, i think there are other
ways to do that. and having hairy legs ain't one of em.
personally, i couldn't be with someone who had hairy legs. i don't
think that makes me shallow, its just something i don't like, and
definitely something i could never ignore! shave 'em lady! :)

maybe a friendly mod could start a poll? you might get a better
view of what most ppl think..

I suspect they just didn't want to offend.
Hairy legs on a chick are a major turn-off for me, and I would imagine most other males.

I would not recommend shaving though, as the hair will harden up and stubble will be a problem after mere days, not good for stroking.
My preference would be waxing, it will hurt (a little) first time but you will get used to it (so I'm told), legs will be hairless for ages and wonderfully smooth. Nyom.

Hairy legs = nono for me.

I like my ladies well groomed below the waste, Non existant in certain places is preferable.

    No hairy mary's for me.

    Chief.

Hair on womens legs is extremely unattractive.

But waxing ...... OUCH ! ..... I'm wondering if you would prefer the waxing if you were the one having to pull the strips of whatever off ..... honestly I'm not sure I could .... I'm a wimp ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,648 ✭✭✭smiles

Hmm... I dunno, guess it's up to yourself, are you happy like that? I mean if guys havent mentioned it then surely it doesnt really matter to you....?

    I prefer smooth myself.

the problem with waxing (as i discovered with my first boyf and had to revert back to shaving) is that it you can't just get the hair waxed whenever u want, you have to wait a certain length of time, so basically, u get 2 weeks of hairless legs and then 4-6 weeks of growing the offending hair back to a certain length before they can wax u again. (oh and the pain never goes away. it always hurt like hell and i had been getting it done for years, although i am dark haired and dark hair is stronger/thicker than blonde).

so even though shaving leaves yer legs all stubbly after 2 days, at least u can shave them again when the stubble does come back, so they can be smooth most of the time. and it's a hell of a lot cheaper.

    or use a cream.

I am a chicka. I DO NOT WANT HAIRY ANYTHING. I shave everything except my arms and head. I like to feel all smooth and silky. But as it is your body it is up to you. BTW there are plenty of others ways to be feminest than not shaving. Good Luck!:D

On an almost tangental note, my dad is almost completely hairless, he doesn't grow shin/leg/arm/armpit hairs and he'd probably be the envy of a lot of girls who have to bother with hair removal routines. I on the other hand only have hairless armpits despite it being pretty much everywhere else.

Also, girls with facial hair which they don't shave because its light and fluffy sorta freaks me out. It's there but they're indifferent to it. How can you not bother with your face and take huge efforts with legs/crotches? :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,683 ✭✭✭daveg

Please shave the hair.... quickly. I don't like my women with more hair than me.... and that, believe me, would be difficult ;)

God... I hate to thing it makes a big difference to me, but man, it does....

I'd have to say one of the nastiest surprises you can get in a relationship is excess hair....

If your happy with it girl then do it.
I'm a bloke and man enuff not to scared by hairy women.
Dont conform to social 'norms' if the 'norm' is not normal for you.
I think there is a huge and socially unjust pressure on women to conform to preset notions of 'beauty' and we are all so programmed from birth we are quote 'repulsed' by people who have the intellect and courage to live how they see fit.
    Good on ya.

    What you mean

Not shaving your legs, your arms... washing on a regular basis or brushing your hair turns men off?

I wonder if this is why feminists are seen as 'mad'.... clearly one should be able to fester.... *ahem*

I guess washing everyday ... is yet another tool of the male opressor.

Hey grow em long if you want....
I'm sure Germaine Greer would aprove.

Eugh, hairy legs on a woman are horrible. I am a man and quite hairy, is that a turn off for women?

Also I would like to back up m1rvs point about women with fluffy facial hair, gah it's so ugly and you feel like telling them to shave.

    1.who equated hariyness with hygene?

2.Sexisim and the treatment/attitude to women has ,is and will be a major issue in our 'devoloped' society.

4.I find your attitude offensive, sexisim is akin to any ism in my opinion and is therefore unwise to propagate it any further buy dull ,ill thought out, routine chauvinism.

    who equated hariyrness with feminism

do you have to be hairy to be a feminist.......in that case my da is definetly a feminist as he is hairy all over and is not bothered by getting rid of it.

I think a lot of women prefer to be clean shaven rather than hairy does that mean they are opressing themselves?

I would imagine, any woman who goes out of her way go against normal lady-like behavior has more issues than first suspected.....

Then again, I know a girl who has hairless legs, and has never shaven them!

Nah, facial hair shaving is a nightmare.

Not enough to grow a beard but enough to be uncomfortable and look like you just hit puberty last week.....

i just have a question, men who are so demanding of clean shaveness.. or something... hairy women are a big turn off, ever thought we might think the same thing?
whats the difference between hair on men and hair on women? it occurs naturally on both...
do you shave all your body hair too?
would you be offended if a woman said your body hair was disgusting?
just curious, i never knew men felt so strongly about it.

For the record I know plenty of women who wouldn't go out with men with beards, if that applies!
I don't complain about how todays society expects me to be clean shaven, it would be alot easier for me to just forget shaving and let nature take its course but I don't and I really don't care.

Surely there are more important things for "feminists" to be worried about than whether or not women should shave (I'm tempted to go off-topic here but will restrain myself).
If you don't want to shave, then don't, no-one is forcing you to....just don't expect to get a second glance from me (or apparently over 80% of the male population judging by the poll) next time you wear a skirt. I'm not arguing the rights and wrongs of this, just the reality of the here and now!

Its all part of the mating ritual of the species :p,you try to make yourself as attractive to the opposite sex as possible. If women like men shaven then men shave. If men like smooth legs, and evidently we do, then thats the price you pay.

Id say a girl with noticably hairy legs would probably get more looks from men than a girl with shaven legs. The pure shock factor etc.
