Right. I've just started back to the gym for the first time in 2 years. I've had about 8 sessions in the last 3 weeks. when i use the machines for the shoulder and cheat exercises my shoulder and elbow joints 'click'. it doesn't happen on every rep though.
i don't get any joint pain form it either, i'm just wondering is it normal for this to happen when your starting off or should i get it looked at.
I'm not lifting very heavy weights either.

btw i'm 25 5ft 9 12st. i'm not overweight just out of shape and i'm just to get rid of the flabby gut and saggy man boobs!!!! and get a bit of definition aswell.

I get this in my shoulder mostly during dumbell flys.

Just make sure you warm up properly and stretch and it shouldn't cause any problems, it can be a bit disconcerting though.

If you start getting pain along with the clicking then you may need to worry about it but at the moment keep training and don't be too concerned about it.

I get clicking in ankles and knees too, even when walking!! Had it for years, doesn't cause any problems except when creeping up on people :)

The clicking noise that you're experiencing is just fluid displacement around the particular joints in question.
It's the same thing as when you crack your knuckles, well that's if you're ever inclined to do so!! But luckily enough it's not life threatening!!!
