Mine are (in order of discovery)
Mega Lo Mania - Sega Megadrive
    Dune II - Playstation
    C&C - Playstation
    Player Manager - Playstation
    X-Com - Playstation

Then I got my first PC hehehehehe
    C&C Series
    Championship Manager Series
    Warcraft - of course
    Age of Empires Series

    Current played games:
    CM4
    C&C Generals
    AOM Mythology

Does anyone have a copy of mega lo mania that works on pc? would love to see it again after so long......

Well there are those who say that if haven't played TA you haven't played a strategy game!

It's about 5 - 6 years old but was ground breaking when it came out. I recently installed it again and it hasn't aged much. A true real time strategy game - huge maps with artillery that can shoot from one side of the map to the other.

Check it out - you wont be dissappointed.

    Hyzepher

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 87 ✭✭feldy

Cool - will check it out.

I just broke 50 posts!! Weyhey!
I am now a fast newbie. Not sure what that means but it cant be bad!:D

Cavedog made it but I think they were bought out or went bust or something. www.cavedog.com

I know there are plans for TA2 but I dont know anything about it. I dont even know if you can still buy it - maybe on budget or something.

i'll see if i can hunt it down - unless you would be interested in "loaning" it to me in return for a "loaner" from me...:)

surprised nobody mentioned ground control or dark conspiracy, they're both pretty cool..........big fan of the c&c series, warrior kings, starcraft, homeworld, but i dont know whats my favourite of the lot

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,136 ✭✭✭Bob the Unlucky Octopus

    Warcraft 3

My fave classic one has to be the first C&C- Tiberium Dawn. Although Starcraft has to be up there as well, almost anything Blizzard's done really.

    My fav's
    Medieval-Total War

i hear the cossacks series are the dogs. diff league from aoe series, but they are great if you have a little time to kill, or want an online/lan game with a mate or 3.
i stand by c&c generals - tis something different from what you have played so well worth a look, and if you are in to footie and have a bit of time on your hands, look no further than cm4.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 318 ✭✭Celtic Tiger

Cossacks was good fun as absolutely anything could happen during a mission, and it usually did :p

For me Medieval was a dissapointment after the almighty Shogun. The ai was poor and it was quite easy even playing on expert :(

Anyone remember Battlezone? Now there was an excellent game. Strategy/action fun.....can't beat it :)

Guys you cant forget Warzone 2100, no game comes within a mile of it as far as technology comes, you can spend 5hours or more JUST teching up, the tech tree in the game is GIGANTIC, few games are even a tenth the size. And you can create any tank you want from the weapons available, choose your hull, tracks and weapon, and off you go. What other game has given you roatary howitzers? missile batteries that can fire the whole way across the map? so much freedom of choice? this game should go down in history as the largest by a mile, however dont start a game unless you are prepared to have a long game, games dont end very quickly in this, not quickly at all.

does 5 or so years count as recent? :)

This game is ancient (so graphics = pants), it was on the playstation aswell (i think it as a PS game 1st, not sure).

Its probably a bit premature (since I've only played the demo so far) but Blizkrieg looks pretty class.

Loads of Arty, air power and tanks. You can lay/clear minefields, dig trenches for infantry fortify bunkers/tanks positions.

If your artillary is bombarding the crap out of an enemy position you get counter artillary barrages. Your bombers (high altitude or ground attack) get intercepted by enemy fighters if you use em at the wrong time

Realistic modesl of all the actual weapons and vehicles used in WW2 (ie Its nearly impossible to knock out a Tiger tank with infantry, no matter how many you throw at it).

I can't wait till I get the full version on Monday!!

    Previous favourites are

    Medieval: Total War
    Total Annihalation (Brill multiplayer !!!)
    Close Combat 5: Invasion Normandy
    Empire Earth
    Cossacks: European Wars

any tank is deadmeat if infantry get close to it, so its unrealistic then :)

Maybe in C&C a couple of brave souls with hand grenades can do the business!

If they're not packin a bazooza or a panzerfaust then it ain't suppose to happen. I don't care what "Saving Private Ryan" says you can do with a pair of socks!!!

If the hatch is locked tight, an infantry wont hurt a tank (except grenading the tracks to immobilise it, but that doesnt destroy it), but the tank wont be bale to kill the infantry, so it'll be a long fight :)

TA Kingdoms? I have a copy, it's ok... but it was totally **** compared to the original TA, plus it was very very over-rated, it caused the death of TA as I knew it.

CM4 and C&C Generals are ruling my game time at the moment.

    :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,136 ✭✭✭Pugsley

I find myself enjoying alot of C&C RA: yuri's revenge alot these days, with the Eagle Red mod (Which can be found here), it adds so much to the game, and theres a new big version coming out which TOTALLY replaces the Yuri side with the new 'asian alliance', looks tasty. Site hasnt been updated in a while, wondering when it will be out.

Any folk who enjoyed RA2 should defo give it a go, even if you dont have yuri's revenge you can get an older version of it which works with the origional RA2.

em yes, u ever tried fighting a battle with a squad of immobile tanks? would you like to try? tanks are pretty useless unless they can move :)

Mega Lo Mania, Z and the original CnC were good in their day but Total Annihilation eclipsed every other RTS I've ever played.

The free nature of the interface, crazy expansion and lack of silly micomanagement make most modern RTS games very irritating by comparsion.

The single player campaign is rather dull but the multiplayer is fantastic. I've been playing it for 4 or 5 years now with BLITZ clan.

    I also run/ran a TA comedy site. Now that's a niche website!
