Are you sure the diet is the one for you given your bodys response?

This is normal on a full Atkins diet.

How long have you been in ketose for? The feelings of tiredness usually subside after week two to three.

If it's affecting your day to day life and gym time maybe you should look into a CKD diet instead.

Is the Atkins diet the one you do where you dont mix carbs with.. protein? ie you lose water basically?

A mate of mine does that and receives great weight loss but one can only do it for 2 weeks max. It apparently is also a strain on the kidneys or liver. Roughly what is it?

i thought it was not that you dont mix proteins and carbs, but that you just eat very little carbs and loads of protein-y foods in particular meat and cheese-if it's the same one i'm thinking of i know two people who went on it recently (and came off it quickly). they both got really sick after the first 5 or so days, after intending to stay on it for 2 weeks.

Atkins is just a Ketogenic diet, low carbs/high fat and protein. I think it takes 2-3 weeks do get into Ketosis properly, and I remember feeling like crap when I tried it, so you just have to stick with it for the first fortnight, as your body switches from using glucose as it's primary energy supply to bodyfat.
But once you're in ketosis, you're laughing. Eh, it's probably not the best diet about, due to other issues involving leptin levels (search for "Lyle McDonald" and "Leptin" and you should find some good info). I'd go with logic1's suggestion, the CKD works better and makes more sense, if you've read the literature :)

Oh yeah, another reason you could be tired is a lack of muscle glycogen - Muscle tissue can only use the glucose it stores in the tisuse (as glycogen) for fuel, so once this gets depleted, you'll have to replenish it - Quite difficult to do when you're eating ~20g of carbs a day.

CKD is better, as it should address the (important) issues of suppressed leptin levels during hypocaloric dieting, replacing muscle glycogen, maintaining/building lean body mass, and eating nice sweeties on your diet ;)
