I couldn't find a health section to post this in so I guess this will have to do. My girlfriend is here with me and one eye is dilated much more than the other. She says she has a headache but feel okay aside from that. (very thirsty though).

Is this a symptom of migrane or something? She doesn't feel the need to go to casualty but the doc will definatly be in order.

IMO, the doc would just give her an analgesic and tell her to get a good night's sleep, and if it was me, that's what I'd do too. But I'm not a doctor, and I don't think Occy's around, so neither is anyone else here.

Go on your own instincts. If it's worrying you, go to the doctor. If she wants to go to the doctor, then do so.

I think I have a few nos for doctors on call in Galway if you need them. PM me. (No I'm not a hypochondriac, it's ppart of my job :))

    :)

    Cheers Seamus,
she's going to the doctor either after work today, or else tomorrow. I'll let you know how she get's on. The main reason it was worrying me is that we were always thought in first aid that it wsa due to more pressure on one lobe of the brain (?) or something.

But she's her bright and cheery self this morning. and I sound like Barry White as usual until about 10 am.

    Thanks again,
I'll let you know what happens!

Well I suffer like hell from migraine and the symptoms are as follows:

Throbbing pain usually to one side of the head and over one eye.
Sensitivity to bright light, movement and strong smells.
Often accompanied by blurred vision and nausia. (they're the bad ones!)

Personally, if it's really bad it starts to get better after I get sick but I very rarely get that bad.

As for painkillers...it depends but my recommendations would be Solpadenes'. Probably best to take 2 and go to bed in a dark, quiet room. You usually feel better if you get even a teensie bit of sleep because it calms the blood pressure.

Check out here for more info and support on migranes.

....Just in case it is migraine

Thanks Mizzme, I'll pass it on to her. I'll see her again on Thursday so hopefully she'll have some news. I'm surprised she didn't take advantage of the fact that it's april fool's today and tell me the doc said shes pregnant or something :)
