since christmas i decided to try get fitter and i've been running, and im going at it pretty well (ive managed to get up to around 20 minutes, which isn't bad considering i could only manage 2 minutes a while ago!). i started getting pains in my quad and then in my knee so i went to see a physio, and she told me that because my knee's weren't used to the amount of running i was doing it was putting a strain on them. she gave me heel inserts, and excercises to do (leg presses) and ones to avoid (leg extensions, incline walking/running) and told me i need to build up the musles around my knee to support it.

the week i went to see her and started following the advice it started clearing up, but then i went away for a week and i went back to the gym yesterday after 9 days away form it (i usually go around 3-5 times a week) and i got such a pain in my quad whilst running that i had to stop. i'm just wondering if anyone would know if this is due to my being away for a while and will clear up if i keep excercising on it, or should i just go back to the physio?
    thanks!
