Gazza please tell me that the pool in the Aquatic centre in Abbotstown is open to people actually swimming in it and that you didn't visit it just to look at it!!!!!! ;)

The reason i was up there yesterday was because my brother is swimming in the Special Olympics this year and he had to go up yesterday to take part in the filming of an ad that is going to be shown on TV later in the month.

Hey Gazzer, I kinda gathered that you were up there for some reason other than staring into a big hole!!! Didn't mean to cause offence, I was only pulling your leg!!! Sorry! ;)

I think maybe the official public opening is today. However the pool was specially built for the special olympics so they got to go in prior to the official opening. Also the life guards working by the pool for the special olympics had training there last week i think it was. My brother is doing it.

Do you maybe know how much they want for a full membership (including the health centre that is) ?
Im really looking forward going there today !!!!!!! :-)

I thought it was run by the governement and not a private company. That would mean that it is not membership based. If it is thought I would assume about 200 per annum.

I checked the webpage and it says that you have to be full member in order to use the health centre. I can imagine that its pretty expensive...

Thats a bit messed up. It must be privately run while publically funded. Oh what a government we have.
Were going to build this fantastic new pool for you to use, with your money, but you will have to pay to use it

Ye just looked at the website. Without calling them i would assume a swim only membership is about 200 and a full memebership about 600. thats just a theory though. Might give them a call later though

Is the flowrider (www.flowrider.com) running up there?
Which one is it? Is it the little speedbump or the 6ft barrel?

If it's the barrel it might be worth a trip up.

this country is a joke! For years they go on and on that we have no 50m pools...now we have 3 and you have to be a member to swim in them all!we should be encouraging people to swim and get fit not telling them they have to pay 200 euro to do so!!!

    gggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:mad:

There was a 2 page spread on it in the Herald the other night, membership was about 600-700 euro a year, a swim costs €10!!!!
