Hip Abductions

Just really quickly i need some advice.

I'm doing a 6 week training programme for myself in which i hope to train my hip flexibility. However I first have to test my hip adduction ie the angle that my hip joint will reach.

    I have to choices
Should i measure the angle of an Active stretch where i raise my leg on my own
    or
Passive stretch where someone else raises my leg for me thus getting a larger stretch.

(Specificity is important for this as i am concentratiing primarily on the flexiblity of my hip joint of my trail leg for hurdling. I'm unsure as to which would be most accurate for the measurement of the angle that could be attained by my trail leg)

    Any suggestions/help greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

    Well ...

I would think you should be measuring your reflex stretch height.

Stretching where you slowly raise on your own will likely be lowest.

Stretching where you warm up and spring the leg out will be next highest.

Finally warming up and having someone progressively try and push the stretch will give you the highest measurement.

If you are looking for the stretch you will likely get when hurdling after getting warmed up - the second will give you the best idea of where you are. When you run the motion and spring will allow you to push beyond the stretch you would get if you slowly raised the leg under your own strength.

I may be restricted in so far as i think i will have to measure it in the lab tomorrow.
