let's try to get back to the topic at hand, what does IT carlow need, what could we like to see introduced and what improvements can we think of.

I read in another post that this board had been brought to the attention of the SU, perhaps if a clearcut and reasonable list of improvements or suggestions were brought before them, something might actually get done?..(and I'm not implying here that the SU don't get anything done, before anyone jumps down my throat)

I'm going to go through this thread in a bit and pick out all the "reasonable" suggestions, and add them all in one post ,, I may even do a little thread pruning to remove the spam and breast-talk

much as I like breasts, there's not much I think Jp et co. can do for us in the regards, unless they want to hire jenna jameson to perform in the canteen for the next rag week

so come on people, let's hear those ideas!

1) Bar.
2) Accomadation.
3) Society rooms.
4) Compsoc fitted out fully teched top of the line comp room (one can dream, no?).
5) Swimming pool.
6) Students room for eating fitted out with micro, TV, couches, tables and so on (prob no cooker, not sure how safe that would be).
7) Better canteen
8) Bar (hey, it's worth adding twice)

here are the suggestions I've picked up from this thread. any more to add? what would you seriously like to see improved about the college?

Decent computers in lab C109. They're p2s for cryin out loud. It's a joke considdering we use some of they biggest resource chewin programs in the college!

I wholeheartedly endorse this product or service.

What the hell is the story with the BUSINESS students getting a load of P4's with removeable HDDS and the poor computer students are made do using labs with no fúcking zip drive.

We have nice computers in C303. I wish more computers had CD writers. It's impossible bring home any sort of big project with out getting a zip drive for home.

You don't, its the networking lab... Access is generally restricted to those that have project work and the like to do there... Mostly CSM and CNW people.

Lab 305 has the same machines though, some of them have zip drives and CDRW's.

The engineering department is the most forgotten about when it comes to computers. I went mad at a lecturer one day cos the length of time ti was taking to load a big 3D drawing (5 mins!) and he decided to ask the powers that be for the old P3s they replced in A303. They said they might give us one!ONE!!!

bar and stuff was ment to happen but, i'm not sure now. as far as i know, the college has to cut 900,000yoyos from the budget!

i don't think some child minding facilities would go astray(i've had a few scares).
the government does have funding for projects like that, but only can be used in existing space, which the IT doesn't have. so we have to build to get anything.

maybe a free taxi service down to Scraggs. and some sort of school kid killing device!

there isn't an A303, its C303 and its for networking students to piss about on cause its separate to the network. and the P4's are not for business students. they're once again and rightly so for us networking students.

CSM have year long projects so we need our own harddrives and we have that up here in 303/305. Thats the only reason we get it.
