I have been thinking of starting yoga. does anyone on here do it or have tried it at some point??

The main reason i want to try yoga is i get a bad back from time to time (usually when i stop training and going to the gym after the season has finished!) i get pain in my lower back and down my right hamstring, it's a pelvic problem. when i'm fit i'm fine it doesen't bother me. I know i should go to the gym all year round but i want to keep things interesting!

    so

    1. Does anyone do yoga??

    2. What type do you do?

    3. How long before you feel the effects of it??

any help will be greatly appreciated!

    1. Yes (and I'm a bloke). I did a 6 week course before Xmas.

    2. Not too sure, but I can find out. An hour a week at lunch time.

    3. After 2 weeks.

Basically, I get a stiff back very easily, from sitting at a desk and my hamstrings are very tight from football, so one of the girls at work recommended this to me. Back pain was gone after 2 weeks, hamstrings were definitely looser. But I had a lot more energy. the girls mainly go to tighten up the backside and stomach, but I am very slim anyway so I cant comment on any effects in that department. I'm going to start back again in a few weeks.

AND, you get to watch the girls bending over backwards in the class!!!! Thats worth the money alone.
