ok did post this on another thread, but i completely got way off topic with it, and after doing it i decided to actually do a new thread about it , that and you can tell most peoples ages etc by what they have went through themselves :)

    ok here goes

    went through loads of computers..

started off with a dragon 32
think it was the atari (3200? i cant remember)
after that it was the spectrum zx if i remember rightly.. (although it was my brother who got this if i remember right "yah i know my memory sux :("
    then onto commodore 64
then the NES (yes the preceedor before snes), got it with "duckshot" and that big orange gun, that owned ;)
from there it was onto the master system
    then the mega drive
    then onto the playstation
got a N64 while still had playstation though (first comp i bought with my own wages that i earned, was 16 at the time)
from there i gotta PC at around end of 16/start of 17 (p2 400mhz, 32 meg ram, built in gfx+soundcard, although this was a family computer not mine)
then i bought me own pc a year afterwards(amd k7 500mhz "worst cpu ever imo", 32 meg ram, ati rage 128, built in sound)
upgraded the computer a few times since..
and finally bought a ps2 about 2/3 months back..
current pc atm is = amd xp 2100+, pc2100 256 meg ram, Geforce 2 GTS 64 mb, on board sound due to sound card not being compatible with winNT though :(

hmm looking back i was kinda spoiled with computers

think they just got them to shut me and my brother up..

i thought i had a snes at one time or another as i remember playing mario kart for AGES, but i think i just swapped it for me mega drive for about a month or so :p

[edit] after seeing dukes post it reminded me i also had a amiga 500, somewhere around the same time as the mega drive or maybe just afterwards.. :) [/edit]

    80 - Comodore VIC20 - in school
    82 - ZXSpectrum +2
    84 - C64 + Floppy drive
Never got the Amiga - but would have loved one
    90 - 386SX
    94 - 486DX
    95 - Pentium 90MHz
and after that I've not really styed faithfull to any one machine but palyed arround but am the proud owner of a now dated MHz1.7 P3 system

What is Snes - never head of it

Always paid for it with my own money (summer work and stuff).

So what age am I :D

osiris, that thread is asking you what you still have sitting around though :)

whereas im asking you what youve had, it dosent have to be sitting in your attic.. (that and i never really look at retro forums so :p)

infact dont think i have any of those sitting around in my parents house anymore, maybe the n64 and i think the commodore 64 is in the garage, thats about it..

Duke = Snes is the super nintendo :)

nes was the normal nintendo, its predocessor (sp?)

    SNES- Super Nintendo Entertainment System

i started off with a pong type telly thing
    Speccy 48k
    BBC Micro
    Speccy 128k
    Amiga 500
    Amiga 1200
    Playstation
    PC
    and next i must get a PS2

    Not that many:

Atari: Dunno which one.. it had Dungeons and Dragons though
Sega Mega Drive 2: most fun i've had from a computer, Sonic the Hedgehog is just the win!
Nintendo64: Still have it with Star wars: rogue squadron, Goldeneye and something else.. not sure.

Celeron 300, 32mb Ram, really old 14" monitor with onboard Gfx and sound.
Now I have an AMD T-Bird 1.3, 384 mb Ram, Tnt2 Ultra and a 17" monitor which isn't that bad.

Pong type thingy most likely the same as Superfly's
    Atari 2600
    Speccy 48k
    Amiga 500 (big jump)
486 sx25 with a 60 mb drive compressed to 120 and with 4mbs of ram!
    Dell Dimension P90
Psx (just to play Ridgeracer, and mostly now for tekken 3 and Gran Turismo)
    Digital 3100 (P2 200 mhz)
Athlon 550mhz based system (later retired for use as a server)
P3 1ghz, 768 mb's of ram, Geforce 2mx, and more harddisk space than I can remember.

I really really want to upgrade to a p4/Xp based system with a Geforce Ti4600 and with a black case and little lights and a built in washing machine.

And a ps2. Cos I like SSX tricky and Tekken, and that game were you have to CRASH into other cars and stuff.

In fact all of the machines I listed ARE sitting on my attic. No joke. I spent so much time with these things between patching, adding, gaming and coding - I even have my first high speed 1400 baud modem  and my very first SVGA card with 256KB memory :p.

Now that's what I call nostalgia. Once in a blue moon I take them down and run a few games for old times sake.

Yeah my 486 sx25 had a half meg of graphics memory and an 8-bit sound card. But this was in the day when P.c's weren't even really considered a games platform.

    here we go:
    • An Atari pong box with paddles which had various sports themed games..which were just varieties of pong ;p
    • Vic 20 which I played like twice in my life
    • Commodore 64...ooh baby. Manic Miner, Impossible Mission..the list goes on. Got an updated C64 later on then..which was whiter :)
    • Gameboy!
    • Commodore Amiga a500
    • Sega Megadrive
    • Super Nintendo (Actually ended up with two of them..Gerry Ryans to blame! I know it...)
    • PC: Pentium 75...and it begins :p
    • Nintendo 64
    • Upgraded p75 to a p166
    • Gameboy Color
    • Gameboy Advance
    • 1800+ Athlon PC ;)

Also had a dreamcast for about a week, until the sound gave in and I decided to hell with it and just gave it back.

Several other pcs have come and gone too..but the original and my current would be the main ones.

and out of all of them..I think the most impressive moment I've ever experienced would be firing up Hexen for the first time on the P75.

18 years ago: A lend of my uncle's ZX81! Over an hour to type in a game from reams of paper (not a touch typist obviously!) and a further two hours going back over it looking for the "syntax errors"
14 years ago: ZX Spectrum 48. Now we're talking, full colour graphics and the luxury of loading games from tapes. Way of the exploding fist caused me many a blister!
About 8 years discovering the pleasures of flesh and alcohol.
4 years ago: Gateway P3 500 with 128MB RAM and 16MB Voodoo3 gfx. Bought purely on the strength of Quake 2 played in the Gateway shop in Liffey Valley. Top of the line at the time (and will be for years to come, according to the salesdude).
3 months ago: Upgraded the above to Athlon 2000XP,256DDR,GF3Ti500. I am in gaming heaven once again, although I can't believe the one thing I haven't had to upgrade is my 56K modem!
Next: Whatever Alienware's Ultimate Behemoth is at the time.

Much the same as everyone else really

Started off with Pong type thingy with football and squash derivatives. Still in full working order with the box, instructions, polystyrene packaging etc.

Then ZX Spectrum back in Chrimbo '83. I remember it cost my folks £220 which was a lot 20 years ago.

    Then came a Gameboy,
    Sega Mega Drive 2
Playstation (with nearly every peripheral you can think of)
    Dreamcast
    and currently a P4 1.6mhz.

All of the above have their all of their original packaging manuals etc. Never chuck anything out, that's me!!

And boy would I love an xbox...
