I abstain on the basis that betting/predicting on arsenal is the absolute worst thing to do :)

i predict 3-1 to the Arsenal. Henry(2) and Pires

I agree with Dustaz. Unfortunately the lure of that lovely "ARSENAL WIN" link was too hard to resist and has since been clicked by myself.

    Arsenal win.

    2-0.

Hate these games both teams playing really well scoring lots of goals.

What are the odds on 0-0 neither team having a shot on goal ??

I'd like to see Arsenal win as they're so good but I need Utd to win for selfish reasons. Confused...... 3-1 to the Arse, oh well. :(

These high profile games are usually one sided.
Either United 3-1 or Arsenal 3-1, depending on who scores first, so I'll go United.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,399 ✭✭✭✭Thanx 4 The Fish

3-1, Arsenal, Barthez to let one in between his legs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

I think Arsenal will win it 2-0.
I should be up for Utd so it's better for Liverpool, but I'm not.
    Actually I'll take a draw. 2-2 please.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,508 ✭✭✭johnnynolegs

Rite i voted for what i hoped would happen not what i actually think will happen

i hope united win for the good of liverpool and to set up a cracking premiership this year with Van kiss the boys netting a brace and ole "i look like a hobbit" solskjaer [sp] getting another and terry henry getting one for the arse.....................

.........................but in reality i can see it being 3-1 the other way round with henry scoring a hat trick and van kiss the boys scoring a penalty

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13 freaky_boy

Total agreement with Arsenal scoring 3 but i really agree that united will score 1 wit van nis taking a peno!!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,832 ✭✭✭Waylander

My guess would be a 3-2 win for United. Looking forward to it, it should be a good game. Arsenal without Vierra and Campbell should make up for united missing Keane and Ferdinand. I am not sure about Cygan for Arsenal, but that probably just means he will be the best central defender in the world ina years time.

I'm going for 0-0 draw-both teams to cancel each other out!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,443 ✭✭✭cartman

personally...i think both of these teams are gay and deserve to all die in a plane crash in the Sierra mountains and i think that henry is a good player but David Beckham is far far better and liverpool are crap becuz they cum from liverpool which makes them crap and i think that everyone who posts on boards.ie are well cool because...arn't we all? and i'm just thinking now, if there was ever a boy who could swim faster than a shark....and at the end of it all, we all just gotta ask ourselves...is it all worth it? but you gotta say..."Loreal, because i'm worth it" every morning to yourself because....at the end of the day...life is very nice....and so is god...big up the britney westside..word up....thank you jesus.
btw...if you havn't already gotten it from my above statement...: arsenal 2 man u 1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,683 ✭✭✭daveg

Man Utd to win 2-1. Van the man and Solksaer to score.
I won't vote, the same way I don't watch the Arse play in the pub (not since the Cup Winners Cup Final.....Najim BA$TARD!!).

I had forgotten about that :D Naijim from the half way line. Twas our chant in collage for weeks after :D

    gooners to win 2-1.

They are too strong for anyone at the moment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,954 ✭✭✭Paleface

Being a gooner myself i'll have to go for the Arsenal but United are looking stronger than they have for most of the season so it could be a tough one.

Still fancy the champions all the same!

    gooners to win 2-1.
They are too strong for anyone at the moment.

      Tell that to Southampton!

i wasn't aware that they'd (arsenal) would be missing Viera.
      /me reaches jubilant levels

    • Closed Accounts Posts: 226 ✭✭Rolo Tomasi

Ah Christ, no Keane or Viera, that's always the best scrap of the season.

Well seeing as Arsenal have a semi-sound 'kepper in Shaban I reckon that Arsenal will win. I mean if Liverpool had a quality keeper on Sunday could anyone really see Man U winning that game?

    • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,508 ✭✭✭johnnynolegs

exactly tomasi if dudek had not made that mistake the result would have been very different indeed.............

Sorry guys, but i have to go for a 3-1 win for UTD!!! Forlan is gonna do the business again, and maybe one for VanNistlerooij too...:)

hmmmm dunno i think forlan has got his quota for a few weeks now

    • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,136 ✭✭✭Bob the Unlucky Octopus

I think it'll be quite tight. 1-0 to the Arsenal, a Thierry Henry special. Diego Nogoalan will try and try and try...but even Rami Sharban won't be able to repeat Jerzy's howlers I predict!

    • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators, Regional West Moderators Posts: 16,724 Mod ✭✭✭✭yop

      Diego Nogoalan

Christ bob, if you call everyone under him "Nogoal" on the scoring stats in the premier league then you will be a busy pus. Take a look at the leader board and there are plenty of "quality" strikers below him, who have got twice the playing time he has.

eg Bellamy, Cole, Defoe, smith, heskey, bergkamp

And before you use that it took thirty..bla bla... games to get the first goal, then check his actual playin time and it is far from 30 games

    • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,508 ✭✭✭johnnynolegs

can't believe i am defending a united player but it is true he is better than a lot of other strikers in the league at the moment.........

    • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,081 ✭✭✭BKtje

im quite happy to let people believe forlan doesn't score.
Then when he scores against them i can slag em off even more for letting a '****e' (in their eyes) player score :)

haha thats a good theory dzr well done and he got another one last nite the boy is on fire

Did we not already have this Forlan discussion about a month ago!?

      *Cough*

Some people just wont accept fact and reality because of spite, which is quite sad.

Back to the topic, I agree with Occy on this one it will be a tight game, but one side will ultimately dominate mid-field and the game in general.

1-0 Arsenal/udt (or vice Versa) or the same with a 2-1 Scoreline a last minute specialist goal from either team.

      Should be a great Match.

I had supressed it, and i was at the match :(

Id have to disagree with the predictions of a tight/low scoring game. Both defenses are very dodgy atm and both attacks are on a roll, im fairly positive both sides will score...

      ARSENAL,

3-0, We got da best team in da world. Agree on ure point of Henry

It doesn't matter if there are 'better quality strikers' lower on the table. They're there for a reason- Forlan was hired as a marksman- to replace Andy "hit the post, keeper saves, scuffs his shot" Cole. There's a reason Andy Cole never made the England shirt and the likes of Shearer and Owen did- because they simply stuck their chances away better than him. Forlan neither creates effectively against quality opposition nor is he prolific in front of goal.

Scoring against Burnley and an out of form Polish goalkeeper are one thing- slamming a hattrick past the tightest defence in the Scudetto is just different class :)

The strikers you have named have their reasons for not making their mark. Bergkamp is not your out and out goalscorer, he creates like a genius behind the front two though. Bellamy has frequent discipline problems, is fed by an uninspiring newcastle midfield and is just lacking in the professional attitude that marks great players like Henry and van Nistelrooy. Alan Smith a great goalscorer? Hardly...he's good with his back to goal, can ruffle the odd defender but is quite frankly lacking in discipline, maturity and that killer edge of making dangerous runs and playing off a strike partner. Toshack in his prime was what Smith is aspiring to be- and is so far away from. Toshack was a big man, but took up intelligent positions, and developed a telepathic understanding with Keegan. And lastly, I can't believe you're even comparing Dafoe/Smith to the likes of Henry or Jerrel Hasselbaink...they're just not fit to lace their boots quite frankly.

And where did I say 30 games? :P I'm merely pointing out that Forlan is a bad buy- as bad as the horribly static 4-4-2 that makes Sebby Veron look almost ordinary in the middle of the park, a shadow of the creative master he was for Lazio. Without Roy Keane, Man U's central midfield looks soft and vulnerable to quality opposition- I can't see Deportivo being nearly as generous as Burnley. No, Man U aren't a bad team- but recent injury worries and a lack of form in defence (losing to Maccabi Haifa just should not happen to a team trying to win the competition :P) has convinced me that they will not beat Arsenal.

The fact that I'm a gooner has nothing to do with that of course. Gwan the Arsenal!

PS- Jonny, I'm not saying that out of spite- nor did I see the Nogoalan debate 1 month ago- I said it because I truly believe he's a worthless pos player. I'd rather have Desailly lead an attack than him- ol' Marcel even has a better goal to minutes in possession tally. Forlan's play doesn't inspire me...he's a mediocre buy. Put Solskjaer up front with Van Nistelrooy, don't waste a quality striker on the wing ffs :P

It will be a great game no doubt but man u are still very confident after there win against Liverpool!! I think this will be a test for all the players on both sides!! i'll be watchin Diego Forlán just to can he repeat his heroics against Liverpool.

Any chance of the defenses forcing a nil-nil draw?

      No thought not! :p

Sorry Arsenal fans, but whats your chances of coming to Old Trafford and winning by two or three goals? Not very high are they?

I'll go for a 2-1 win for United. Henry to score with his only shot in the match. Forlan to get one from a 25 yard volley and Van Nistelrooy with a header from Solskjaer's cross.

I have to agree with PORNAPSTER arsenal or any other team for that matter wouldn't have a chance of scoring 2 or 3 in old trafford. it'll be 1-0 to man utd with solskjaer scoring!!
