All right, the age-old argument....

...who's the hardest superhero of all time and space (erm, out of the list provided)?


Voted Batman myself.

Batman v Superman .... Kryptonite. No contest really.

Batman v Spiderman .... experience (and $$$$) vs. a smart mouth, the Bat's handled worse.

Batman v Blade .... He'd lock him in a cage away from his serum for a few days and squash the mofo.

Batman v Wolverine.... erm, he'd just win. Ok?

Batman v Gambit .... He throws cards. 'nuff said.

Well as a given here Sups is almost invincible. OK fair enough Batman has his resources but tbh even Batman is limited as a mere mortal. Superman is the epitimon of what human evolution will reach - and he's not exactly stupid now.

As for the other candidates........

Blades...well spiderman has come close to taking him out before only for the fact that Blade's actually meant to be doing some good.

Spiderman v Wolverine? Well you've got a human spider v an animal raged (again alomost invulnerable) mutant who has razor claws made from adimantium (which can cut through anything) v webs and both instinct and exp which was honed over nearly 100 years v a 20-30 something with life problems dealing with his wife? Do I really need to state the obvious?

OK wolvie v gambit. Kentic energy v someone who can heal himself of almost anything (including a huge explosion). No contest - the theif v the assassin. Wolvie wins.

Bat v Wolvie. Wolvie would win out of pure determination for the kill.

Now that leaves the header of Bat Sups and Wolvie. Now Bat could possibly outsmart Sups but would have to be something spectacular. Bats would be easily done out by Wolverine but Wolvie wouldn't scratch sups tbh.

So you're still left with Bat v wolf and Bat v Sups.

Sups overall because apart from the kryptonite thing (think lead suit to protect sups) there would be nothing going for batman and no chance.

Old-age Batman wiped the floor with Supes. My vote would be for either Bats or Wolvie, but I think Batman would win because of his cunning plans

I can see this evolving to a thread along the lines of "Who is faster? The Flash or Superman"

First off Superman gave Batman a ring that almost killed Superman incase he ever went evil or somin so that Bats COULD defeat him and Bats was the only one Sups would turst to defeat im. Also I voted Batman because he would win outa all those except maybe Wolverine who is very tight and resorsful, also Wolvie isn't as smart and that would probably mean Bats would win but its the only close one.

Yeah that's one thing I don't understand about the Supes.....

He was a child when he landed on earth. Has had use of the same education system that our man the bats has had.....

He's been a 'good' little boy - top grades etc. and he's faught evil villains most of his life so he should be streetwise.

Yet he's a feckin boy scout who thinks brute force is the best way to resolve a situation..... is it just me that's missing something along the way here? I dunno....like a labotomy?

Given that the silver surfer could easily trounce any of the wips in the poll (with panache), surely Galactus (aka Devourer of Worlds) who made the Silver Surfer (and can lay beats on him) deserves a mention and would easily win.

This means he still has to stand up to this lot - btw....you've obviously not seen the Superman v Galactus paperback where the FF bring him from an alternate reality to theirs and he battles Galactus

I'm sure it's the same with every other hero if in a slightly different context but I notice it the most when people are discussing batman in a fight...

It goes like this:

Well Batman would win because he could create a machine/engineer a situation/use a secret weakness he knows to defeat his opponent.

Batman, far from being without superpowers it seems is God! He is omniscient and ominpotent with unlimited resources for creating whatever he needs at a moments notice.

Handy for him really!

So I'd just like to ask people arguing for Batman please don't say well Batman could build a machine to exploit this rare fact that of course he knows. Bear in mind that the opponent could just as easily drop an anvil on Batman's head (it'd take a little work setting it up but Batman creating a Superman defeating gadget wouldn't?!)

Let Batman stand on his own two feet. Or leave him on his own and don't have him play with the other children.

I agree with that actually.

Yeah batman can outthink most people - but when it comes down to it....most of batman's enemies (as far as i've seen) have done the usual James Bond routine. Don't kill him until they tell the whole elaborate plot, or set up some elaborate way to kill him.

Apart from the petty thugs, how many of Batman's supervillain enemies have just plain out shot him in the head? I mean that's one point isn't it? Yeah he can wear a load of Kevlar if he wants but in the end you shoot him in the head and he's going down.

So add into the equation Bullseye and Batman is going down? Is it really that easy? And you wonder why these kinda of arguments never have a clean cut answer - nobody's ever right and nobody's ever wrong.

Except to say that ICEMAN would own all of the above!!

The problem withthis is Superman has a very obvious advantage coz he's got every superpower and he can't be hurt by humans which the rest of them are. The question gets interesting when he's taken out of the equation. Then I'd put my money on Spidey coz he's so fast and flexible and he got Spidersense so you can't really get him by surprize, which you'd have to do to get someone that fast

<nerd>It's not really a clear cut decision.

Under a yellow sun and with an absence of kryptonite, Superman is a pretty strong contender but otherwise he's at quite a severe disadvantage.

Kind of surprised at the amount of Batman votes too. Couple his human frailty, lack of any super power and his morals (he's not going to go for a kill now, is he?), he's hardly the strongest contender. His only real advantages are his intelligence and his gadgets.

Spiderman is quick, agile and his spider-sense is a major bonus. He's not very strong though, and he's still essentially human.

Gambit? Projectile attacks are a bonus - but he's not terribly clever, agile or strong.

Wolverine: strong, agile, experienced, healing powers, the ability to pick up other's scent, adamantium bones and razor sharp claws give him a good chance. His temper and intelligence let him down though.

Blade is strong, agile and a highly skilled fighter. He's also pretty smart. A contender, but could he soak up a beating and go on for more?

Blade has been brought down by Spiderman before. 1 on 1 i'd say Blade wouldn't stand a chance.

Gambit has won appeal of many people but tbh he has no real power except exploding projectiles. His kinetic charge powers wouldn't do more than cause a few explosions. I'd say his guilt over the slaughter of the morlocks would prevent him from going for the kill.

Wolverine has survival instincts far greater than even batman. Physically he's stronger, more agile and can last a lot longer (in a fight I mean) and his skills in the martial arts range further than Batmans. He has been schooled in many teachings. He would also be invulnerable to Batman's attacks except if batman outsmarted him (which would be OK except he'd have to find him first). Wolverine would be hard to slow down/stop.

Have any of you seen the 12? The final battle between the X-Men and Apocalypse? Before this he gathered together his 4 horsemen again and the X-Men nearly died at the hands of Death. This was WITH a teleporting mutant who could cover much more distance than Nightcrawler and other super powered children. Death just kept on coming. If they had ported to the moon he would have been right behin. And they couldn't kill him. They even dropped a building on him and it didn't stop him.

I think people overlook the fact that though Wolverine gives in to berzerker rages he's also quite wiley and would have just as many street smarts as Batman if not the Scientific know how.

As for Superman.....OK if you have some Kryptonite or if you take him to a planet orbiting a red sun you might stand a chance against him. 1 on 1 he could even beat Gambit then in that case.

Except for kryptonite i'd say none of the above could kill superman. And even at that they'd still have to get the stuff close enough to him to hurt him.

To put it bluntly - nomatter how many ways you big up Batman, he's still just a man. Doomsday killed him but you saw how powerful he was. Besides as for Batman's gadgets, if superman crashed into the batcave it wouldn't last long. And if he can't get in because of a secret stash of the green stuff, just drop half a mountain on it

I could do a what about Iceman? In strongest form he can teleport to the other side of the world, in his iceform he is indestructable, and the immence power he has .....

He can freeze every molecule in a persons body and pretty much kill them with a thought. Only person to beat this was LEGION in his fully merged mental state - but at that point he was so powerful the only way to kill him was to have him kill himself.

Batman any day! hes got the schmarts you see could out wit anyone plus while all the others have 'super powers' they also have major weaknesses! ie superman and cryptonite! Good old Bruce on the other hand doesnt have any major weakness apart from the fact that hes plain old human!however hes not quite a 'mere' mortal either, hes got enough cash to promote him to some where between mortal and flying dude with lots of special powers! plus think of all the gadgets!

My money would be on Bruce anyday!!

Don't forget the X-Men run "The 12" in which Apocalypse brainwashed wolverine and sent him out as death with a teleporter. He nearly wiped out the X-men alone and just kept on coming till they snapped him out of it. They even dropped a building on him ffs and he kept on coming...
