After a long and thoughtful discussion in #fortress.ie we have not come to a decision on which is better: Rashers or sausages.

I think rashers clearly own sausages btw..

This silly feud is pulling us apart Neo! , why cant you just accept Sausages as the superior pig-biproduct

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,031 ✭✭✭El Marco

I voted sausages myself. Rashers are just far too salty and also neo.. anything you can do I can do better, I can do anything better than you :p
So thats another reason I voted sausages :)

    Sasuages clearly own your bases

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,399 ✭✭✭✭Thanx 4 The Fish

I think you'll find that all your pork products belong to rashers.

    Make your pudding.

    Rashers.
Nice crispy rasher = teh sex!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,783 ✭✭✭Puck

I rarely have one without the other but rashers are clearly better!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Crash

Why is there no "Big fu<king concoction involving bread, a whole pack of sausages and a whole pack of rashers" option??

I never eat either of them on their own, they're generally in one big roll. They OWN that way.

How bout which is tastier..."Atari Jaguar" or "SNES"?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 47 The Devil

    Rashers.
    Sausages are waaaaaaaay too fattening.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,299 ✭✭✭oeNeo

Damn, I forgot the Atari Jaguar option.

    Rash0rs!

I can only handle a few sausages but can take any amount of Rash action!

(tip for sausages, cook them on the lowest heat possible for the longest amount of time... apparently, I wouldn't know coz I hate the feckers :D)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,798 ✭✭✭Funky

because rasher sandwich with barbecue sauce wins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,007 ✭✭✭Moriarty

Both clearly have their merits, but, at a push, it has to be rashers rashers rashers!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,379 ✭✭✭Mills

    Rashers or sausages?

Both, with a fried egg and potato bread, maybe some baked beans too, and half a loaf of bread, or even chips.

If I had to pick one it would depend on which kind of rasher and which kind of sausage, as I like some kinds more than others, don't like smoked rashers for example.

How about Maple Cured, ya like those ?

    Gotta be my favourite rasher.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 544 ✭✭✭pauldeehan

    Sausages!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,503 ✭✭✭Makaveli

Sausages, because there is no fat on them (even if there is in them).
Also, mmmmmmmm sausages and ketchup between two slices of toast.
But I do like my rashers, just prefer the ol' sausages.

Sausages are cleary better. You can't beat a superquinn sausage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,658 ✭✭✭✭The Sweeper

For me it's entirely a mood thing.

In from the pub: rasher sandwich, brown sauce, cuppa tea.

Up on a Sunday morning: could eat a fry with no rashers, but couldn't eat a fry with no sausages.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,092 ✭✭✭Glowingmind

In order to construct my favourite sandwich you will require 3 sausages(Olhausen are by far the best sausages you can get in ireland, trust me) a slice of cheese, 2 slices of bread and a sauce of your choice.
You toast the bread, butter it, place the cheese on on the pieces, take the 3 sausages straight off the grill and cut them down the middle. Place the sausages(flat side down) on the cheese, the heat of the sausages will melt the cheese very nicely. from there you get you sauce/topping , my current favourite being tomato, mayo and black pepper.
Doing this with rashers is never as good, sausages clearly win.

    BREAKFAST ROLL :D
best of both worlds.but sausages clearly 0wn the pants of the horrible Rashers(as we refer to red-necks here as rashers :D)

    <pokemon>GO SAUSAGES</pokemon>

This is a crazy thread, how can you have one without the other for Petes sake? Then add fried eggs, black pudding, chips, baked beans (not Bachelors though).

Oh and some fried bread. Die happy.

    Mmmm :)

    Mike.

    Jebus. Crazy people.

This isn't a thread about puddings and egg's etc.. Everyone knows that rashers and sausages go better with them but if you just had to make a choice between the two, which would it be?

    *and possibly britain

Someone mentioned white pudding there earlier on. Now everyone knows black pudding is the only pudding worth mentioning. Somone should start a poll regarding this so once and for all the Irish breakfast can be sorted out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,181 ✭✭✭✭Jim

depends on waht type of sausage

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,199 ✭✭✭Jimi-Spandex

    Snausage.

As tasty as rashengers are, snausage beats them hands down, rashers are merely an accompanyment

True, this is'nt a thread about puddin ( even though it should be ), it's a thread about foodstuffs however and should have been posted in the food/drink forum. Touche! :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,838 ✭✭✭DapperGent

I got sausages from Tesco there the other day. I was concerned. The tradtional meat and intestine only badass nature of sausages had been corrupted by the addition of rosemary and sundried tomatoes. I felt I owed it to my passion for sausages to give them a go. I was pleasantly surprised but really shouldn't there be a law against this mediterranean bastardisation of this wondrous foodstuff?
