Does anyone have any idea at what price the new nintendo console is going to retail at in Ireland? It has been stated that it will be at 250 euro across Europe, but Irish retailers have a nasty habit of raising the price a little i.e. 60-70 euro. So anyone have any news on this

seeing as the irish stores use english distributors for everything bar sony hardware (dunno about xbox), i can easily see us getting them at the uk price with a vat mark up. they'll try it anyway.

Er I'm pretty sure Ninty have an Irish distro for Cube. I'll try and find out.

All the big chain stores have their Cube pre-orders open, why not wander along and find out what prices they've got it at?

An Irish company Gem has both XBox and Cube distro for Ireland dont they..

(I think Gem do XBox for UK too)

    Remember people,
Nintendo have always delivered good systems in the past (the nintendo control deck, 8-bit, the GameBoy, the super nintendo, the n64...yes a good system!) and they will continue to have good, reliable systems and games...how many other companies can you REALLY trust your gaming enjoyment with?

Fair enough, the other companies have good games, at least though with nintendo, you don't have to worry about quality titles...they have a good back catalogue of proven classics and they will continue to build upon that aspect, which has made the company so great.

I'm for the GameCube anyway, but I keep an open mind...hope the GC will do well though, should do!

I agree MoonHawk i can wait for the rouge squadron game and Metroid Prime! ( the fps where u play Samus!) aswell and the millions o other great titles that will follow! Long Live the gamecube!!! and has anyone seen the panasonic GC?? ****in l3370rs!

Rogue Leader isn't all that though - take away the Star Wars setting and the game itself is rather poo.

After seeing those in-visor screenies of Metroid Prime though... oh daddy!

€280, but the price has been risen everywhere.
In England GameCubes were supposed to be £150,
but retailers themselves put it up to around £170-£180,
Due to lack of profits. And the same is reflected here.
    I'm definatly gonna get one.
See the Resident evil Remake, man thats good stuff.
And RE0 and RE4 are GC exclusives. Nice.

Hmm maybe i'll wait a while for the price to come down a little.

I think that Ps2 will do the best out of all as did Ps1.

I like it a lot, personally. That said it didn't hold my attention long once Pikmin pitched up :)

Ive heard that when they were selling the GC for $150 in UK that the shops were making a whopping 29p profit per console....... only hear say tho, cant trust it to be overly reliable.
Still cheapest console on release (isnt it?) so im defo gettin one.

Sega are developing games for the Gamecube. Isn't that "Monkey trapped in a marble"* game done by Sega?

    *Not actual name of game

It's called 'Super Monkey Ball' very highly rated by most reviewers, not surprising as Sega do great games. Probably one I will purchase with the console on release day.

I went to a popular video 'Game' shop in Blanchardstown yesterday, on enquiring about the Gamecube I was told that could reserve on for €20.00 but they could not tell me at what price it would retail at!! What a load of bollox!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,592 ✭✭✭✭Dont be at yourself

Funny story. I went to a popular 'game' shop in blanchardstown a few days ago and asked about the final price of the gamecube.

    "Under €300" he said.

    "And that's not even concrete."

Odd, they started off at £150 sterling, that was boosted to £165 and now going on what nekky said its gonna be £185 aprrox.

Hmm, used to like Nintendo, far too many kids games for my likin on the console, but hopefully the GC will change that. So far I like the Xbox, but time will tell. I absolutely hate all the Mario games, and looks like there will be (as usual) a lot of those available.
The new Res Evil game looks fab though.

    Check out this screenie

I pre-ordered the GC in game in blanch. Was told €289.99  also preordered luigi mansion and rogue squadron.

Anyone know what the memory card is like? I heard it has a really small storage capacity

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 46 leejon

In regards to pre ordering the GC, do any of these outlets know about any combination packs that are due, i.e. 2 joypads and a game or 1 game and a memory card. As I am due to order one shortly I will obviously want to get a good price with as much kit as possible.

What the hell? Scared your mom might walk in on you playing with your Pikachu when you should be watching hardcore nazi porn with donkeys on the side?

Seriously...does it really matter what age group the game is aimed at? If the games enjoyable, enjoy it. I find myself spending more time on my GBA playing pokemon than I do playing FPSes on the PC.

I'm holding out for Soul Caliber 2 to come out before I fork out for a Gamecube. :bandit:

WTF? I'm entitled to an opinion?

I personally absolutely hate the Mario games. I liked them for about a week, a very very long time ago. I've been looking over the lists of games for the Gamecube, and although there will be quite a few decent titles, the majority still are games like Mario, that I personally don't enjoy playing at all. *MY OPINION*
This is why I'm not sure if I'll be getting a Gamecube (if the majority of the games are ****e, why should I bother?). Don't get all upset over it :P
... Different people like different games I suppose.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,576 ✭✭✭Kairo

Yes, you are entitled to your opinion..but you stated that there are too many kiddie games on the Nintendo consoles, did you not?

    Summation of my post...

    'So What?'

So no "Middle Aged Fat Bastard 2002" for the GC? Damn, was looking forward to that.

All games are for kiddies, young and old.

(if the majority of the games are ****e, why should I bother?). Don't get all upset over it :P
    [/B]

Same can be said about any console, not just gamecube.

Personally *IN MY OPINION* I think the GC has more potential than the xbox.

Ah yeah - Advance Wars, Breath of Fire, Golden Sun, Sonic Advance, Doom, Streetfighter.... man, they're all kids games.

(And grown-up games are... what? Something that simulates the Six O'Clock News and brings you your slippers and pipe? LAY OFF THE CRACK.)

dont get too excited about smash bros., its alright and theres loads more to do than the n64 version but its roughly the same and its too 'fast' i think, it gets really boring after awhile.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,119 ✭✭✭Volvagia

Well put Shinji! Viva La Game Cube!

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 52,396 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

I'd rather play the so called nintendo kids games than jedi knight or castle wolfenstein. Anyone who says they hate mario games obviously has never played one and is too wrapped up in playing first person shoots (a genre that hasn't changed since half-life and everything after hasn't even come close) to open up there minds and realise that nintendo do make the best games. So what if they are a bit childish. It doesn't matter if they're brilliant.
