I just have a Eircom homepage.
Do you have a nice HTML page that I can upload in place of the website or do you want the whole information taken down?

    /me is a noob

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,308 ✭✭✭✭Bard

Gordon, the page to replace your page with on Friday is here: http://blackout.irelandoffline.org/splash.htm

If you need help replacing it, just ask!

    --

To add to the list, I'll be blacking out my personal site at http://niall.okeeffe.com/

    - also, of course, the home page of www.irelandoffline.com will be blacked out, but I'll be leaving a link to the site itself. As organisers of the Blackout, it's important that IOFFL's message remains on-line throughout.

    --

I understand that Boards.ie will be taking part... will Spin Solutions themselves be doing it too?

Yeah it was down for about 12 hours or so due to a DNS flip. I had been working so hard on the project (the com/net/org side) that I forgot to pay for the domain. :) It seems to be back in the zone file now. http://www.irishwebpages.com should also work for it.

I'll be running the banner and probably put an article up about it, Bard.

I've already added the banner to the WhoisIreland site and to the sub-index pages. The button will appear on every page later tonight. (The pages are generated as static pages and this takes about 5 hours - another thing to optimise when I get around to it (including activating the HackWatch CMS/vortal ;) ))

www.fishamble.net will be offline. Cheating a bit here because it won't be officially launched until Saturday :-)
By the way, if it hasn't been posted already, the following is an interesting article on the state of broadband in the US and the exasperation of the IT industry with the telco cartel there.

    off.jpg

I'll lock the CS server for the day too, so that's going to cost eircom:

    16 people * 6 hours * 60 mins * 1p a min = £57.60 :D

    Adam

Im putting the blackout page over my own http://dublin.irishwan.org page, and Ill keep it up there til monday. Im having some trouble with the links tho. I copied the index page onto my drive and pointed the img src for the header to 'header.gif' in the same dir on my ftp space. Are the hyperlinks on the splash page pointing to other sections of the site using the full address or just the links to the pages, ie: http://www.blackout.irelandoffline.org/faq.htm , or is it just faq.htm ??

    Thanks

    Matt

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 16,659 ✭✭✭✭dahamsta

They're absolute links Matt, so you don't need to worry about them. You can use absolute links for the stylesheet and image too if you wish. Course, they won't resolve at the moment... :(
