Right, well I'm 15 and my fitness levels are dropping an awful lot. I'm not worried about my weight but I did put on half a stone over the summer from lack of exercise.

I'm on the basketball team in school and last year we would have two matches and two training sessions a week but this year we just about have one match and one training session a week. the matches are always on Wednesdays and they clash with something else so I don't get to attend those either.

I only have one gym class a week which is about 20-30mins by the time we get changed and changed back into our uniform. So, not much is done in the class. We did the bleep test last week and my class in general had dropped their score but I too had dropped my score.

The only exercise I'm getting is walking to & from the DART station to school.

Any ideas/exercises I could do to keep up my fitness levels?

And does anyone know what the situation in Westwood Clontarf is in regards the gym? I know the teen gym was closed but what age does the Adult gym locate for?

    Thanks, marshmallow

yeah, there's no need to spend money on a gym at your age, as he said, just start running etc.. play football, or start something like boxing etc

I tried getting up at 6 and running before school. I did it for a week but just found myself tired in school so stopped.

I'm already a member in Westwood, my parents are paying for it and I'm not proud to say that I'm wasting their money by not using it..

    (I'm a girl btw..)

    Diet? What you eatin'
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, supplements - be honest!

I've never dieted, I don't think it's the right way too go about it. Plus, it's more my fitness rather than figure though that would be a plus.

I have a breakfast every morning, a roll for lunch, a dinner when I get home..

That's more or less what I eat everyday..

getting fit will increase your energy levels, keep the running up, you'll get used to it eventually and you'll be full of life all day..

Dieting is really a part of getting fit, by diet, i mean eating healthy... You can't get up and run in the morning after a curry the night before, well you could, but i wouldn't advise it..

Start eating healthy (i'm not sayin you don't already), drink water instead of fizzy drinks and go for a run every other day, you'll be in top form in no time!

    Thanks LundiMardi.

I never have fizzy drinks. Can't remember the last time I had one, I try to drink plenty of water.. I dunno 'bout the running, I have so much on after school that I'm really tired by the time I get to bed and I've been having really bad sleeping problems the past few months..
There's just so much on that I hardly have time for exercise anymore!! But I'm trying to fit it into my schedule as to not use it as an excuse!

I've tried aerobics, just once or twice. Just playing upbeat music and doing a work-out to it. What areas of fitness does that help??

you don't have to do heaps of running. why not try walking- it tends to burn up a higher % of fat calories than running does, and it won't leave you as tired. Try getting off the DART a stop or two early and walk the rest. And if you need to ern a few extra quid maybe offer to walk neighbours' dogs (I used to make a fortune doing that).

Stick on some good music, and dance. OK so you look like a muppet, but its great fun. Or maybe try one fo the home fitness videos. ever tried them myself, but a good friend was using them and they helped her lose over 2 stone.

Keep eating three good, healthy meals a day. Try not to eat sugary cereals, swap white rolls for brown, and eat lots of lean meat. Have a snack of fruit or nuts mid-morning at break and some more when you leave school in the evening.

train for you basketball performance Body fat will fall off itself then with the volume of training you are doing. weights 2-3 a week( athletic/quick stuff not bodybuilding). sprints/short runs 2 a week. do a few walks as suggested on the side if energy left over.
