COD 1 or 2???

Well 2 isnt out till Friday....you will prob pick up 1 and EXP pack United Offensive on the cheap on here!! I sold mine a few months ago because too many war games to play online!!! anyway if new then up to yourself!! CoD 1 is class.....from all acounts 2 is going to be very good as well!!! so maybe pick up 2 or you can 1.....both have more or less the same gameplay.....just different levels!! few new things in 2 but you wouldnt notice if you havent played CoD 1......graphics and so on are better!!

yeah i'm leaning towards number 2 alright!! mainly graphical improvments i'm hearing about. i've a farely decent system so should be able to run it okay

Rest assured GFF shall have a server up for COD 2:)

In fairness, I'd advise you to go buy both as CoD1 + UO is so cheap nowadays it's a real steal! But if you can only afford 1 game, buy CoD2, especially if you intend playing online. I think most teams will migrate to CoD2...

only a simple question lads:- is the wheel mouse fixed for changing weapons? didn't work in the demo (tbh I ddnt bother to tinker with the settings) but I prefare the old COD1 way of weapon change

Yup drapper go into your mouse settings and set up a keyboard key to correspond to a mouse input.

1st-ib have a COD 2 server up now anyway im not sure of he IB i`ll post it later on when I get it. its only been up a few days now.

The fact that it's not CoD1; you need to have it on the lowest graphics settings to get any good fps rate; the new weapon models are crap (infact I just don't like any of the weapons at all anymore; the croshairs are crap; the amount of smoke and dust on the maps,which although looks good still brings the fps down a lot; The fact that I suck at it compared to normal CoD or even UO doesn't help either. Ok maybe terrible was an exaduration and too stong a word but it certainly is a big let down for me anyway.

Exactly, which means I'll have to dish out more money on a game I was overcharged for that I'm not even impressed with so far. Anyway, I'm going to go play some CoD2 to try and get into the right frame of mind so I might actually start to like it.

I have fina;y found something about the game that I love. It's the fact you can minimize without having to reload the map.

The simple answer to that is turn crosshairs off. After a bit of practise it'll improve your aim and speed and the rest of it.

As for the game, I love it. I think the weapons are great especially the Garand and tommy gun and the nagant. I like the levels and the gameplay. I'm still not sompletely decided on the new HQ, might be a bit too close to S&D (which I hate with a passion) but its not as bad as I first thought.

I think everybody should get to know the game better. Finish the Single Player mode, play 50~100 hours online and only then say how you feel!

I've been playing since last week-end and I haven't yet made my mind up! How can you have an honest opinion after a few hours?

I have set all my graphics settings so that I get an average of about 80fps, it doesn't look as good but it makes the game playable. I have finished the single player on the hardest level. I'm getting used to the new controls and I'm coming closer and closer to the top of full servers on S&D (usualy about 3rd or 4th). It certainly isn't as bad as I thought it was but it has nothing on CoD in my opinion.

Binomate, I'm starting to think your review was right yesterday, not sure If I like it yet but its graphically an improvement on cod1, however if its a rig hogger than I think many will just stay with COD 1

Anyone think some of the maps are very like the GFM mod? (without snow)?

but give it time I'm sure I'll get into it !!!!!

I was playing on some african map last night, it wasn't el alamien. I never got any more than 20fps because of all of the dust and I couldn't hit a thing even with the shotgun at close range. The thing that annoys me is that I can only play half the maps.

Just cos your systems cant run the game in all its glory doesnt mean its not an awesome game.
It wrecks my head when guys moan this game sucks cos they get crap framerate.

To me it is just incredible,i doubt ill ever boot up COD or UO again after this beast.
Run in DX 7 if yas are struggling.

Even if I had constant 125 fps I still wouldn't bother with this game. The only thing that is better about this game are the graphics in my opinion.

Of course, I tried directx 9 to see how big a difference there was. My frame rate went from 20fps to 1 fps.

Actually, i was using DirectX 7 and thought id try 9, and got the same fps and slightly better graphics. I also put my quality settings up and my fps are only slightly lower (i get about 45 fps usually). The thing that gets me though is the smoke. Then i get an unplayable <10 fps . Well im planning an upgrade soon anyways

I just found out my clan's no.1 in the clanbase uk CoD1 s&d ladder! we only got it because the old no.1 dropped out. And we dont really play CoD1 anymore, but still, yay:D. I think we earned it:)
