Just checking out OpenBSD3.8, seems very good although (as expected) not much different from 3.7.

Would really consider it for more mainstream stuff, but the lack of LDAP authentication (apart from a really old implementation with no documentation) means that it'd be useless for me as a file server. Works like a dream on a test firewall - any one else check it out?

Running our smtp gateway in here on 3.7 (with postfix), never had a problem with it, plus on the odd power outage its bootup times are extremely fast .. just reading up on the changes to 3.8 theres nothing that would make me instantly want to upgrade, but it will be done in the next month anyway I'd imagine :)

i wonder... i use FreeBSD for my file server etc because it's quite easy to administer and i like the way it's 'unix' and so everything in the ports etc follows the conventions on where it should install. i do wish the ports were easier to upgrade, i only got my head around portupgrade a few weeks ago but it seems to do the trick.
