Well finished with a friend in 4hrs 3mins!!

Had to drag him home as his hip flexors locked up after about 10miles and resorted to walking at times. Still all in all he was happy as a 49 year young man to finish his first marathon in 14 years and during the training went from 14st 4lbs to 12st 10lbs.

Next time i will do it on my own and push for a sub 3hr marathon.

All the best to all those who did it and for some walking down a set of stairs for the past two days has been painful!

p.s. thanks easygainer. The sports recovery drink was excellent and neither of us felt tired during the race. Also the protein powder really helped recovery over the past two days

fair play. i get tired watching a marathon... (then i tell myself thats totally ok, coz lots of lifters don't have good endurance.. :D )

Seriously, thats a mighty respectable time, good on ya.

I've decided that I'm going to do it next year, and will start training in January.

What was the sports recovery drink?

Do many people walk the marathon? Would be thinking of doing it for charity next year but I fear that running would resurrect my old shin splints problem.

Judging by your conditioning I don't think you'd have had a prob finishing the race and recovering with or without supplements.

The supplement was cytomax by cytosport if I remember...

well done to everyone who finished, i had serious stomach issues all the way around, but made it to the finish, only 1hour 20mins outside of time target!

great experience anyway and will prob do it again since it went all wrong on the day..
