Does this mean that ITV1 & ITV2 will be joining the EPG on Sky (with sub) soon?
I know ITV4 is on from next week, and ITV3 is already there, but what about being able to use Sky+ facilities with ITV1 or ITV2?

I don't think this will kill off chorus as long as ITV is only available via other channels. I really think it needs to be on the EPG before a lot of people would leave Chorus.

About 32 ITV channels FTA on PC, inc G41,49,53,54 and ttg41, ttg53
Around 10 ish the William Raod testcard on ITVi was replaced by ITV news and the MM went blank.

    Had to go out.

10072 is no video/audio running, probabily be ITV4 later at 7.00pm.

I don't know if the actual channels of MM and 10072 will swap or morelikely just the Sky EPG info for MM 136 will be 1TV4 in evenings and MM during day, with 120 as ITV4 from 7th.

The new CITV no doubt will eventually share with ITV4 like BBC3/CBBC, BBC4/Cbeebies. Which is fine for smoke and mirrors Digiboxes but cunfuses those with FTA digital receivers :)

Now my PC based Sat receiver with 200G free recording space is much nicer.. I'm glad I didn't rush out and get a Sky+

With at least 20 useful channels as well as the 11 or so distinct BBC/ITV and 70 radio (not counting regional and national variations) the FTA sat route is very attractive.

Can't see folks forking out for big terrestrial masts or "collections" toward so called "Deflectors" once the word gets around.

Anyone got a favorite list of non-BBC/ITV FTA TV channels from 28.2E?

    Don't agree,

A 200 or 300 Euro FTA system (200 DIY, 300 installed?) does not use Sky EPG.

You decide your own list of channels, favorites and ordering. The 70 radio usually on a separate button.

You can delete all the Pay channels and other FTA channels you don't want (unlike sky).

Also you can set parental PIN. (Without ringing Sky, but write it down or you need to factory reset the box!).

EPG is unfortunately only now/next, but I'm hoping the new BBC/ITV FTA "platform" will add 2 week EPG compatible with non-Sky boxes. I get at least one week EPG on German / Swiss channels on PC and on FTA sat box now. So it is possible, which makes PC PVR without a script to link from Gypsy Media's Digiguide very simple.

Also means the lookup of programs for whole night on FTA box without PC possible. My now/next, daily, weekly view EPG on the PALCOM DSL4 FTA box is MUCH nicer and easier to navigate than Sky's but only now&next for ITV & BBC at the moment.

At Last!!! ITV in the CLEAR. Well done to all. I've heard that ITV 4 will
be Viewable thru Other Channels after tonight (M+M). label "10072" and EPG
    launch Ch120 November 7th.

Had a bottle of champane in the fridge for a year, today is a good day to
OPEN. Hold out your glasses lads!!!:) :):D:)

now all we need is RTE FTA....

Thats a much bigger proposition! But it is very annoying. Imagine the difference in aesthetics alone if all those damn terrestrial aerials could come down.

Nothing short of a mass retention of TV license fees would convince them to make the switch anytime soon.

Are they locked into a contract or can they opt out of the sky deal at any time?

Supposedly BBC and ITV have created a consortium called Freesat, which is a bit like the Freeview consortium, to build a platform for FTA Digital satellite, that should include an EPG, PVR's etc. and will probably be promoted heavily by them as a competitior to Sky :)

Now we only have to wait for C4 and RTE to go FTA and all would be right with the world.

A recent document on digital broadcasting from RTE actually mentions the possiblity of RTE going FTA. With the Beeb and ITV going FTA there will be a lot of pressure on RTE to follow suit, it really isn't that far fetched.

Also even if RTE goes FTA, it is likely it would retain it's channel number and EPG on Sky, as Sky would be in big trouble with its customers if it dropped it and it would only drive more customers towards FTA.

    Hi Fellas,
Should I crack open the champagne! we all remember the dreaded “08” message we got a few yrs ago, I for one did not think I’d see this again without a FTV card, for those with a FTV card I’d advise hold onto it as Channel 4 are contracted to Sky’s encryption until 2008 anyway. British Private TV can go FTA how long will it be before some one is giving the RTE FTA codes? Still at least we will now have a little more choice, even if it is via the “other channels” option. These are the codes for to watch the ITV channels FTA.

For Sky Digibox users, press the “Services” button on your Sky remote, then use the arrow keys to go down to “System Setup” Alternatively press 4, Then select Add Channels which is no. 4 again. Then enter the frequencies I have give below, depending on what stations you want. Then highlight said station and press the yellow button, this should put a √ Tick alongside the station then press select and view via the “other channels” function, which is no. 6 in the “Services” menu.

    Happy Viewing!

I'm not so sure about that. If the satellite retailers were to agressively market this then I think it would attract even more people away from Chorus [ remember they've already taken a large chunk of Chorus business already, now they need to educate the rest ]. I believe that there are many, many people out there who have no idea that they can receive RTE, all the BBC channels & now all the ITV channels with no monthly fee, just a once off aerial/dish & box fee.

Will be listening to radio attentively to see if Chorus still run their "including UTV & Channel4" sub-line.

Obviously NTL providing Setanta with their package still provides a limited attractiveness to them.

I find it difficult to have any sympathy for Chorus, although I acknowledge there would be ordinary staff member's jobs at stake for the errors of their owners/managers.

I had so many bad customer service experiences with Chorus [ including loss of service on 2 consecutive Christmas Days ] that any suffering they endure would not bother me at all.
