My mate has taken a fit that he'd like to run this event, I foolishly said I'd go with him if he wanted to run it!
How do two currently non runners train for an Ultra event like this over the next two years? I know it's insane but all the same, if it's gonna come about I think I need to start now for a shot at a 2007 event?
Any and all advice gratefully received boys!

you need to start training asap!
without knowing how much you run at the moment I would say train for a spring marathon next year - paris, conemara, london etc, do it and see how it goes, this will give you a base to work on. then it is a matter of timing about what build up to do, an autumn marathon or whatever, the main thing is since it is such a long way off you need to build in intermediate goals, like marathons or shorter ultra style events...

but you are talking building up gradually and then averaging 100-150 miles a week for a year I'd say.

check out runnersworld.co.uk there are good forums on there for most everything, lot of helpful advice.
