Ok, i'm moving into a new house soon, and will have to decorate a new bedroom:rolleyes:

So i'm looking for cool bedroom accessories, i don't know how big the room will be so keep that in mind, i like open space anyway so nothing big etc...

Some things i was thinking of..

flat screen - if i win the lotto,
recordable dvd player, with surround sound

and that's as far as my imagination has taken me:o

I know this is kind of a stupid question, but it's sunday ffs, i'm hardly gonna go to mass to pass the time:D

    All depends on your budget.

Some of te basics are a good bed (argos are actually good for that), if you're a student you may need a small desk (atlantic), I saw some good (not too expensive) dvd recorders in PC world and powercity the other day. A hifi (dependin on the space), etc.

If ya have to decorate the whole room then some good paint (any hardware shop), a carpet...eh...eh...I can't think of anything else right now bar a tv...oh curtains.

Meh I'll think of stuff later.

lava lamps, posters, speakers for mp3 player, ummm thats all at the min

One of those mini fridges, keep the drinks cool.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 114 ✭✭GOAT_BOY

already have a zen, i use my pc as my hifi to save space, all my music is on the pc anyway, already have a desk, but i'm afraid it may take up room in new place(i have no idea how big it'll be).

PS2 is tempting, but i'm not a huge gamer person, so i'd be afraid i'd use it for a month and then leave it in the drawer..

definitely need dvd recorder, wanna get rid of the video recorder i have, don't need it.. my dvd player is grand but doesn't record.

Have a tv, but because they're a thing of the past it's a HOOGE thing, and the only reason i have a wardrobe is to put the tv on, so if i get a flatscreen i save space on a big huge tv, and also a big hooooge wardrobe(it's full of crap anyway)

lava lamp is a good suggestion, mini fridge is also good, but takes up space that i may not have:)

ah hear, if i could afford one of them i wouldn't have a bed:D

Lava lamps hurt like feck if ya accidentally tap into them and can cause fires.

If ya were going to get a knew computer at any stage it'd be handy cause, pc world have a flat screen tv/monitor with a computer ,it has two remotes, you can record for the tv on to the hardrive and burn it on a dvd. So that would be a computer, flatscreen tv and dvd player recorder in one.

I've always thought it a bad idea to have stuff like a television, hi-fi, console, etc. in a shared bedroom. Keep that stuff in the sitting room/an office room/somewhere else.

they probably hurt cos they're hot? aren't they?

Another idea is getting a water cooler, that would be handy, i don't drink enough water:)

You definatly need a hat stand, and a nice black fur felt fedora to go on it. Then maybe a trench coat to hang as from it as well. That would look cool.

Well I just don't see the bedroom as being a place for electronic entertainment (vibrators excluded). Having a big T.V. in the room doesn't really set a mood of relaxation or sensuousness.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 114 ✭✭GOAT_BOY

how much and where to buy? I already have a reclining chair, that swivvels, but it's not the super comfy a la joey and chandler style chair, it's just the chair for my desk.. is that what you mean?

What if there's porn on tv or some relaxing music playing, shots of the ocean etc.?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 114 ✭✭GOAT_BOY

well the living room is also shared, i like my own space etc.. i think i'd cry if i didn't have a tv in my room.. if there was no tv in my room, i most likely wouldn't be in my room a whole lot.

Yes, if those specific circumstances were used exclusively then by all means... :)

Aye. I never spent any time in my room until the P.C. came in here. Nothing wrong with that though. So you spend the time in the sitting room that you would usually spend in the bedroom. Not a problem. And also what if you have friends around and you want to watch the television? You'd have to move the T.V. out of the bedroom or bring them in there. Neither option is that appealing.

Simple solution put the bed in the living room, double it up as a couch. Or else get two televisions.

i feel weird in the sitting room tbh, it's just not my space, i don't feel completely comfortable.. My room is my space and is completely private etc.. I look around, i see my computer, my tv and my stuff in general.. It's like my own mini house.. The only time i'm in the living room is when i'm having a chat with my ma, all other times i'm in my room.. It's the same for everyone really.. I'm in my room, brother's in his and my ma has the living room.

Whatever happened to a wholesome family life? :(:p

On topic, a hot female makes an excellent accessory to a young mans bedroom. :) Hope that helps.

Comp, decent sized tft, good amp/speakers, bed with good mattress (argos as someone else suggested are great for a cheap decent bed frame, got a nice metal one from them a few weeks back), lamp, wardrobes.

Anything more is overkill. Stick a TV card and a DVD burner in your comp and forget about the expense of a separate DVD/HHD recorder and TV.
    Sorted.

A computer and a mini-fridge seem like a great idea (i have both) but they both have noisy fans that keep you awake. But then again, they're so handy to have around...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,618 ✭✭✭Civilian_Target

Bedside chest of drawers and a bedside lamp. Facilitates stuff like reading at night, and being able to see in the morning.

Also, an uber-loud alarm clock, and a glass of water...
