My traditional method - she was my flatmate! (it's happened more than once...)

Pubs + clubs are still good though.

Through a friend of a friend when we were at uni....pretty normal way of meeting I suppose...

My sister and best friend met their partners on the net....

My mum and dad met 'cause they lived next door to each other...she asked him to give her driving lessons and the rest is history...so, if you meet someone you like maybe ask them for a favour like that where you get to spend some time together and see if you click...

First time I met him in person, I was living in Cork and he was too. We were both with different people then.

Fastforward 2 years and we're both at a party in Carlow... there was drink consumed, we got friendly.. and here we are 3 years later, still together with a baby on the way.

Current gf, met her in college, through mutual friends.

And before that, mostly girls who I'd met thru mutual friends as well. Pretty standard really.

    Worlds worst hangover :p

I met my current gf on blowupdolls.com. We're now living together happily but she's a bit on the shy side, none of my neighbours have seen her as she suffers from an outdoor phobia.

oh $hit, did I say that out loud

Met her at a gig - she arrived with a friend of a friend and we got chatting - turned out she was in the same college as me. There was instant attraction on both sides and a few weeks later we got together

It's been nearly four years at this stage.

No partner for me folks. I can make up a story though if you like?

A late summers night, the bartender was sweating like a priest on a playschool visit... Detective Laguna swallowed his 6th whiskey shot, carefully watching the patrons in the sleazy bar he found himself in, a sleazy bar on the wrong side of town at the wong time of nig....

I shouldn't have watched Sin City..

just was asking this question to get ideas about how to meet ppl ... there is no way on earth any of my so called "friends" would introduce me to ppl and i don't get to go to pubs or clubs much .. so i was hoping there was some other way to meet ppl!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,639 ✭✭✭Laguna

I've wondered the same thing as yourself minimiss, I don't think there's many other ways to meet people unless you're a drinker over here.

i 've already tried night classes and all, and if a bloke is chatting u up in work or class they will certainly always say so where do u hang out at the wkend?
its too embarassing to say no where and then try and explain why that is ...
i suppose they wanna know where i go so they can show up there too ... that seems to be the only way fellas ask girls out

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,639 ✭✭✭Laguna

Well from what you're saying minimiss, you've had a few men asking you out, where you go at the weekends.. Surely that's the definition of *meeting people*, they're practically asking you out then aren't they.

Met my girlfriend at work. We were friends for over two years b4 we got together. She was looking for a project for her webmaster exams and I was looking for a webmaster and as we spent more time together it kinda clicked. Thats over 3 years ago btw.

I proposed to her in front of 80 people at a gig of mine and the wedding is scheduled for October 06.

It is so unpredictable. I used to think that I should make an effort to go to certain places to meet a future beau but have learnt that they always come along unexpectedly. Met my current one through mutual friends in a club! I was the person who SWORE I would never meet a future beau in a smelly niteclub but lo and behold!!

My ex was living in a house I moved into. We were together for 4 years, it ended not so long ago. Was great while it lasted :o
