Tons of ways cause other players could have crap...which is not unusual but..

    Set 3's
    FH 9's over 3's
    FH 3's over 9's

    a poker of 3s a poker of 9s, 9s full

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,434 ✭✭✭cardshark202

There's actually only one way, and thats to have a board containing 3 9's cos there's no other boards that guarantee you the nuts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,083 ✭✭✭RoundTower

I think the board has to come 999 or 993

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,434 ✭✭✭cardshark202

How can you hit quad 3's when you're holding 3 of them?

There's only the one board of 999xx will guarantee you the Nuts.

The next closest as far as I can see would be 9932x in that case only a pair of x will beat you.
    EDIT or 9x obviously!!

Give the man a prize forgot the 999 board...doh!

For a hand to be the nuts you need to at least see the flop so 999 is it.

The problem is that there is too much room for interpretation in the question.

Thats what happens when I reply to a question when Ive only been awake for 10 minutes.

A board of 32222 a board of 999xx... 993 is no good cos turn or river has to change the nuts

correctemundo although it is never stone cold until the river. And also after the turn and river you wont have the nuts unless:

Board 999 the turn and river must not pair 10's or higher and must not be connected suited cards to give a possible straight flush.
Board 993 here you only have the nuts at the end if either the turn or river is a 9. Any other combination will result in a possible higher house or quads or straight flush.

Ah yes forgot about the auld 32222 - nice recovery bohsman.
So is there a third board we haven't thought of yet??

You can "have the nuts" on the flop, the question didn't specify you had to have the nuts on the river. 32222 is the third one though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,793 ✭✭✭✭Hagar

Salted, Dry Roasted or Shelled. :D

That I believe is the only real answer with that hand.

    what's the second one then??

    Have I missed one??

    999xx, 32222, and ??

I'm starting to think Hagar is right!!:D :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,832 ✭✭✭careca

the only one so far that is guaranteed to be the nuts is oscars 32222.
so surley all the other combinations stand also.

    34444
    35555
    36666
    ....
    3AAAA

Or am I really missing something ????????????????

Sorry think I totally misread the question, lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,537 ✭✭✭Ste05

I thought that too at first, but then AA is the nuts, final hands will be 666AA against you're smaller house of 33366,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,434 ✭✭✭cardshark202

There are only 2 boards: 22223 and 999xy where x is not paired with y.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,832 ✭✭✭careca

    its a badly worded question.

There are numerous hands where your hand could be the nuts after the river. However after the flop there are only two possible hands that could be the nuts.

999 (which could change after the river)
993 (which could change after the turn and river).

32222 is not the nuts on the flop or the turn, only becomes so on the river.

    a) suits aren't mentioned and more importantly b) here you only have a pair of 3's (if unsuited) or a 9 high flush if you have 2 of the suits??

    Board 1: 22223
Board 2: 999xy where x is not paired with y and x is not higher than a 9 AND the x and y are not suited and connected with one of the 9's
Board 3: TJQKA of same suit has the 9 if the 9 is suited with one of the 3's

If any of the above happened and 3339 hit the nuts against me I'd punch the dealer.

NH, WP, I salute you sir!!!

Although just to nit pick the x doesn't have to be lower than a 9 on board 2

Reading all the answers here makes me appreciate why I can never get a decent answer if I post an Omaha hand.

It also tells me I am going to play an awful lot of online Omaha from now on.

You are wrong on all three counts. Sorry. ;)

You only have the nuts if you can beat any possible hand that your opponent could have.

Board 1: If your opponent has an Ace as a hole card he has a poker of 2’s with an Ace kicker against your poker of 2’s with a 9 kicker you lose. Hardly the nuts.

Board 2: If your opponent has a pair of suited connectors which form a straight flush with x,y and one of the 3 9’s you lose. Remote but you must admit it is a non-zero possibility so once again you do not have the nuts.

Board 3: There is a Royal Flush flopped as community cards. You 9 is irrelevant as it is a sixth card. Technically you do not have the beating of anyone else so one again you do not have the nuts.

The original scenario won’t even guarantee you the nuts in a heads-up situation.

May I refer you back to my first post.

The only nuts you will see with this hand are Salted, Dry Roasted or Shelled.:D

You have to use 2 from your hand, you can't just play the board in Omaha. So with a suited 9-3 he has a nine high flush which is the nuts on a royal flush board.

At this stage it will be a multi table game. This is the best post ever. There must be at least 10 of us who have made complete tits of ourselves.

I think it should be deleted by a mod, in order to give us some credibility back :)
