Love FTO. It's a shame there are very few clean ones out there.

Yeah, I once had a GPX, they're great.

I remember in grand turismo 1 my favourite car was FTO with AWD drivetrain. It had huge Castrol stickers on it too! :D

I never heard of a AWD model.
200BHP and they stuck to the road like glue, sure what more could you want?
I loved that MIVEC engine too.

The AWD was a touring car in the GT300 class of Super GT in Japan only as far as I know. That car in Gran Turismo was the reason I wanted an FTO so much, and my love for it hasn't gone away!

Got new tyres to actually fit the new wide-ass Rondells and put my Style 32s on my brothers M3. Looks great IMO, if hyper aggressive (he doesnt know I did this, but I think its an improvement :) ).

Also the "Photo Story" feature in Photobucket is very cool, would be great for Boards meets:

Anyway, best photos we could get given the lack of light out and the rain.

Hey Phil, I presume this is what you replaced the green one with?

    LOL @ Hal1 :D

I love e46 M3's, but the powdercoat wheels don't work with the navy (carbon black?). I think the colours are too similar, but not matching, if that makes sense. Lovely car though. Black interior?

Hmm, not powder coated at all and not similar IMO..!?

Thats Plastidip with Gold Metaliser. I might make them more gold (for super contrast) or just full on black. Or Gunmetal, with Silver Metaliser. Or maybe none of that as its not even my car. :pac:

Carbon black on black leather, though in reality the car looks black, the flash makes it look navy. It also makes the "gold" effect look brighter as its metalised, it reflects to the flash and light.

PS: Its missing the centre caps, always makes wheels look odd IMO. I left them at home.. !

Did you get the wheels done yourself?
If so, who did them for you?

Matt did the wheels himself :p

Paying someone to Plastidip wheels is like paying someone to do a BBQ for you. :D

Nah I did them, the E31 has Silver Metalised (gunmetal looking) centres and the E46 is Gold Metalised, both are "effect" sprays over stock black (flat matte) Plastidip. That is to say, these are rubberised coatings, if you get tired of them, just pull it off like Vinyl. Or layer over it, it sticks to itself and gets stronger (unlike paint).

Here are a different set of wheels, my mother did these (her winter wheels for her 535d), black plastidip with lots of silver metaliser (ie more than I used above on my Rondells), focused more silver on outer lip of wheel for some contrast:

Night time under halogen photo btw.

Those wheels absolutely ruin that M3 Imo .

I'd say more than anything it's just not great pics doing it a greater injustice. Would have to see it in person to judge IMO. (Sorry matt :P )

Am I the only one that finds it hilarious that Matt steals his brothers M3 without telling him, swaps the wheels, then takes it for an impromptu photoshoot? :D

His mother plastidipping her wheels isn't the norm either :)

I might do them silver/gunmetal effect for next weekend.. This is whats great about Plastidip, you dont even need to remove them from the car. :)

Yeah, the difference in the flash/light and the amount of time passed since spraying. I cleaned them up that morning on the M3 and dusted them with a light layer (over the previous). It gets slightly darker when fully cured, 9hrs later. This wasnt even close to 9hrs!

We drove the M3 up to see if the wheels rub over ramps etc (they dont), wasnt presenting the colour as a done deal though. I bought extra silver for that car, but before doing that I wanted to gawk at the gold.

Be interesting to see them as varying shades of gunmetal -> silver IMO.

Yea the black one, the TVR track car and Dodge concept were my 2 other favs tbh, used to spend hours just setting fastest times in those 3 cars, they blew everything else in the game to bits, FTO was the easiest fast car to drive in that game but the Dodge concept was capable of going faster as was the TVR :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,730 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

    The Dodge concept was nuts.
I had a mental green R33 GTR, tuned to bits, that and a green and cream Mazda Roadster.

I want both in real life!

I'm going to have at go at this.
My wheels are gunmetal as it is and I want to keep them that colour.
I reckon I'll spray the wheels off the car though.
I went to order from this site but they appear to be sold out.
I'll get 4 cans, 3 would probably do it but sure it's better looking at it that looking for it.

Try Cleancar.ie for Plastidip (black and white). For Gunmetal, Black Plastidip with Silver Metaliser looks better than their actual Gunmetal coloured Plastidip, from videos and photos anyhow.
