Sorry all.. couldn't resist making a new thread!

This one can just be for post-episode discussion so!

PS - Also worth noting it's a public poll and any voting before the episode airs is a big no-no, and will be frowned upon (very heavily.. :D). So.. no excuses for voting early! (unless your name is JJ Abrams or Damon Lindelof)

Cheers "It's good to have you back Basq,"

The episode was great. I know you all think Anna's a bitch but i think she's the way she is because she has had it rougher than the other survivors.

Technically it was a Sun and Jin flashback episode since we saw things happening from both their point's of view.

Anyone else think the bald korean guy was gonna confess he was gay.

I can't believe we have to wait three weeks for the new episode. As for who will be lost for ever, visit my thread LOST FOREVER WARNING

I watched it there a while ago, was a very average episode to be honest. I had seen the preview clip and was expecting a really good episode but was let down.
I thought that Jun & Sun backstories were really poor and very uninteresting. As for
Sun not being able to find her ring, this was one of the main stories in the episode and it seemed as if the writers were really stuck with a script when they decieded to include this. The way they shot the jungle part with Michael and Jun was really well done I thought, lots of tension but as usual revealed nothing about the others, other than they are really dangerous which I suppose we already knew
All I can say now is that I hope the next episode is a 10/10 after the way the way they built it up at the end of this one "Will be the best episode this season".

If we have to wait three weeks for it, it has to be good enough? Why is it three weeks tho? Is the Baseball Play Off's on or something?

Pretty good episode I thought. The bit where the others were walking bye was cool I thought. I think the kid with the bear is probably Alex, I'm sure everyone else thought the same. Also the bit with Kate and the bottle was quite interesting...

I think the story is picking up a bit more now. It will be interesting to see how both groups of survivors mix.

    Episode 5 was a dull one! :(

Hmmm... maybe it's just the mood i'm in but not much good to say about this one. Didn't enjoy the backstory, didn't enjoy the "action" in the jungle. Most annoying thing was as soon as i saw the Claire finding the bottle recap and heard Sun lost her ring, i knew well the ring would be find where she buried the bottle. AH WELL!

The only thing worth talking about was the shot of The Others legs.. yes, not much worth discussing there even! But did like Hurley's story of his dog crapping out a 1.35c in nickels though! :D

Giving it a generous 4 / 10. In my opinion, the poorest episode in a long time!

3 week hiatus will be bee-yatch though! :( I do think the next one will be a good 'un!

PS - herobear.. don't know what you meant by it was more of a Sun flashback episode. Seemed more centred on Jin to be honest. But then again.. either character's flashbacks will basically be more or less their flashback's together as a developing couple.

I thought it was interesting the way the others walked very lightly as if they were puropsly trying not to leave a trail.

Also they looked dirty and gaunt. There should be plenty of food on the island as well as water to wash in... so why don't the dirty nackers take a bath.

    7/10 for me...

    the episode seemed fairly uneventful..

except of course, for the leg shot of the others.. loved that bit..

when Sun's suitor mentioned a woman in America, I was almost certain it was going to be someone from flight 815..

Loved Hurley's story.. and the look on his face afterwards..

no Hatch shenanigans this time.. ah well..

Can't wait until the two groups meet up.. and we find out more about what happened to the rest of the tail section group..

Oooh, shot of one of them dragging a teddy bear, possible indication that this is 16 year old "Alex", Rousseau's long lost child? :O

yeah, it was originally going to be jin's, then it changed to sun's and from watching it, its pretty much both jin and sun's....ah well(at least we know whats upcoming for both Jin and Sawyer's flashbacks)

thank zeus that walt was actually kidnapped, because the rafters and the tailers storyline(yes, including ana-lucia) is the only thing that is currently making this show bearably watchable at this point

im confused though, when Eko and Jin are hiding from the others, can they only see their feet ? or is that just for tension's sake ?
because im pretty sure that, it was Walt who was carrying the teddy bear
(Alex, if she indeed actually exists which im starting to doubt at this stage, would be at least 16 by Danielle's expectation)

and yes, that Vincent scene was pure Hurley :D - i loved the incredulous face on Sun's face, and the fact that Hurley always take himself so seriously
when Sun's suitor mentioned a woman in America, I was almost certain it was going to be someone from flight 815..

    there's a rumour that its
    Libby
but theres really nothing to back it up with, im gonna rewatch the epi.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,945 ✭✭✭Anima

You think its Walt? Then these "Others" must be very powerful indeed, I mean they have the ability to turn a black boy into a white girl!

Check it again, the child is white, looks tall enough to be 14-16 and looks like a girl by the clothes.

I can't believe how anyone gave this 7, never mind 10...

No matter how much you like a show you should never let that blind you when they release a stinker of an episode...

    It was tragically dull...
    I think I gave it 3/10

  • Moderators, Regional Midwest Moderators Posts: 11,183 Mod ✭✭✭✭MarkR

Those legs were pretty dark, but they looked a bit too long for walt's.
Did echo's (sp?) comment about the other's not leaving shoe prints mean they all don't wear shoes for some reason, or they just don't leave tracks at all I wonder?

    Bit disappointing all right.

Btw, any one ye notice the pants on the character holding the teddy? Once it's tight and knee length, another shot it's longer anf baggy. Either teddy's changing hands or someone's changing size!

Unfortunately that's never stopped plenty of people on this forum awarding every episode a ten, regardless of the fact that they can't all deserve it...

Glad to see that the insane 'Lost' love hasn't blinded people to the fact that this week's episode was crap. They managed to do what I thought was impossible - make an even more boring and pointless backstory. Well done writers...

The Others? ARGH. When asked who they are, we have to get a sarcastic "Yeah, let's swap stories". Yet again this new batch of survivors aren't revealing anything - merely talking in mysterious tones. Yeah, yeah blather blather they've got "trust issues". An amazing intricate plan by the writers, or just them fobbing us off for the umpteenth bloody time by not having the characters act intelligently and inquisitively?

And as for the main ring story... Ohh did anyone even think for a second she wouldn't find the ring at the end to the sound of all those weepy instruments? Would have been far more interesting for it to have not turned up or turned up in Vincent's leaving. Although Vincent wasn't the only producing a load of crap this week now was he...

I liked it. Don't know why. Nothing spectacular but I enjoyed it. Simple nice backstory. I really get the feeling peoples expectations are far too high tbh.
Seeing a nice Korean lady called Dude was the moment of the episode.

Anyway 3 weeks is nothing compared to several months waiting to see what happens between Adama and Cain :)

episode was very "meh" to be honest. the whole thing with the ring was unnecessary, and i think it was just an excuse to have SOME footage of the beach survivors. sun's parts of the flashbacks also seemed superfluous. its a bad sign that the best part of the whole episode was the preview of next week's (or three %£$*ing week's) episode. it better live up to it.

my only question (for those who have seen the promo) is......any bets on who?

Without any "external" information (information on future episode casting etc.) I'd guess
Sawyer, the little "I forgot to say goodbye" from Kate coupled with the (well, my own personal) surprise that she holds an interest in him over Jack; so it seems. It'll allow for the development of a Jack-Kate thing again. Sucks to be second place :P

Though it's hardly a spoiler seeing as I actually don't have any facts :) Just spoilered for the benefit of those who don't even want to think about it.

Why has nobody mentioned the dead body? Did eko say that it was the others that killed him or did he say that the guy was an other who had been killed by them? I was nearly alseep by that stage and didnt hear it properly.

Well Echo knew his name was "Goodwin" so I'm guessing he was one of the tail-enders.
Btw, any one ye notice the pants on the character holding the teddy? Once it's tight and knee length, another shot it's longer anf baggy. Either teddy's changing hands or someone's changing size!
    Hey, you're right!

Also the kid(?) with the teddy bear is wearing some sort of chain/handcuff on his/her ankle.

I can't believe so many people didn't enjoy the episode. The show would lose the plot very quickly if every week they were revealing more secrets and mysteries.

The writers have always said that the show is fundamentally about the characters and the various stories associated with them not the island mysteries. Think about how many episodes last year that were like this.

I enjoyed this episode as much as the other Sun/Jin episodes. The whole "find something when you're not looking" was well done. What did Locke lose? The plot, the mission?

I am getting a little sick of them not revealing what happened to Jack's wife! I'm guessing she's dead. Then again we have no idea who Shannon was married to, who Kate was married to, what happened to Sayid's Nadia and Locke's Helen. They do like to keep us in the dark.

The hatch shift is a convenient plot device to allow some of the main characters/actors to not be in every episode - last night no Charlie, Sayid, Shannon and only short scenes with Jack and Locke.

And how can you NOT enjoy the Eko/Jin/Michael scenes in the jungle - I was on the edge of my seat! And isn't Jin learning English very quickly!
I re-watched the "Other's Legs" scene again - the person with the teddy bear is definitely white. I'm going with the Alex theory as well.
I also though I spotted two identical pairs of legs (we've already seen twins on the boat in Exodus Part 3).

I give the ep 7/10 as I thought the back story was one of the better ones this season.
    Damn the 3 week break!

It was good for character development, which is what it really was for. Not exciting and "omg tension" except for when the Others walked past, but they don't all have to be gripping.

So the tailers are Eko, Ana-Lucia, Libby, Bernard, and...Cindy, who we know nothing about but doesn't seem that bad.
Making Ana-Lucia the leader of them for some unknown reason and also a grade-A bitch.
I can see the other tailers fitting in well with the rest of the survivors, but Ana-Lucia? I think she's in for a fairly rude awakening if she tries to act like she is around the rest.

I don't think I'm alone in wanting to see a full-on fistfight between Jack and Ana-Lucia, hopefully with no survivors.
Three weeks until the next one and then... at least six months before I see any more lost :(

O.K is it assumed that the place where the "other people" were staying was
another outpost (hatch)?? Perhaps in that hatch or post (remembering there are 6 or was it 7 on the island) they have not pressed "the button" and that's whey the others can kill them and why so many of them have died and would explain why none of our crew havent died because desmond was always pressing the button???

    :o Maybe??:D

2 poor episodes in a row to be honest. Orientation was the last good one, but judging on the promo for the next episode, all will be restored to normality with a top notch episode................in 3 weeks. Bit of a nightmare wait. My friend told me its an annual 3 week break that the networks take from showing these series' in order to saturate the audience with advertising for their next series of shows. Personally I can't see how this works but maybe its true?

Geez, what is wrong with people! Have you all forgotten Lost is a character driven show and that is where it is at its strongest?

Nothing really happened in regard to The Others,The Hatch etc,but if action scenes are all people are looking for,Lost will slowly turn into crap.

I liked this, good backstory on Jin,more info how he is a poor fisherman, feeling that if he was part of the upper class, things would be better. We already know from previous flashbacks that this is not the case.

It was nice to see Jin and Sun have a strong connection, which happened the minute they bumped into each other.

Interesting to see how much Kate is worried about Sawyer.

Also the shot of the others was interesting, and I presume that is Danielle's daughter.

We also got more on Mr Ecko was it? He seems like the tail end version of Locke. Looks like he could be a good character.

I still want to hit Ana Lucia :D When Jin said fish,I at first thought he was saying bitch :)

    Good character driven episode.

And I didn't give it a high rating because I am a fan,as some have suggested. While people are doing that (giving it 10/10 every week),I don't. I don't think I have even given an episode a 10 yet.

    8/10

I have to agree completely with tvnutz.

I thought this episode was far better than last weeks garbage. They wont
show the others properly for weeks. Cant really see whats goin to happen with them. People were sayin that nothing happened, WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEK? and why is there so much hurley love? I thought the bit with kate admitting she liked sawyer was good. The Jin and Sun flashback stuff was excellent, miles better than hurleys. Also the whole tension in the jungle was excellent.

I'd agree with this... when he is in the jungle with Eko and he asks does he have a wife he says "Yes, you?"... granted he pointed at the ring but it can't have been that obvious he was talking about that...

Also when he gives him the leaf for his cut he vaguely points at it and Jin knows exactly what to do...

There is a theory though that if you're totally immersed in a language for 6 months (surrounded by people speaking it 100% of the time) you'll become fluent in it...

Granted he's only been there 40 something days but the fact that he's starting to pick up words now is probably because for the first 30 or so he only communicated with Sun. Since then she's revealed she speaks English and he's now had to start communicating with others (excuse the pun...)

Anyways, wasn't my favourite episode but not the worst either... I enjoyed the jungle scenes with Eko but it was far, far too slow moving...

Dreadfully obvious Sun's wedding ring would be in the hole she buried the letters in as soon as it was in the recap...

Anyways, here's hoping next weeks (I'm still in denial about the three week break) will be a cracker....

I also really enjoyed this episode.

I felt series two was finally settling down into a decent pace at last.

And I think Lost is at it's best when it has many of the characters as possible taking part.

Ecko is coming across as a really great character, and I hope to see a lot more of him in the future.

I also liked the flashback and I enjoyed it more than any of the other flashbacks so far this season... this could in part be related to the fact that I fancy Yoon-jin Kim more than any of the other Lost Girls...
